I'm positive he is hauling for a private fleet like Sysco, Reinhart, US Foods, or something similar. A lot of thise companies do have bulkhead systems like he mentioned and its acutally pretty interesting. The FMSCA won't touch the mold issue. This is a problem for the FDA and health department due to the fact it is food related and not safety related to the actual vehicle. Also the status of their AIB rating could be in jeporady if the inspectors were ever to see these trailers. If I was a customer and you delivered to me I would be down right furious and probably reject the delivery due to the fact of possible contamination.

ok sorry The company loads all there own trucks the customers never see the insides of the trucks up close as the drivers are the ones unloading from the customer's parking lots then they pick up left over totes and store returns and load them on the truck. The Corporate trucks I know get washed out as they make pick ups at suppliers but the trailers we use to make store delivery's get water sprayed in them once every three months Literately the guy stands on the ground and sprays a pressure washer into the truck for a few minutes then moves on to the next one. I don't do delivery's for them I run shuttle trucks taking loaded ones to Northern and southern Indiana and Northern Kentucky and bringing back empty's (loaded with empty totes and store returns) Todays truck return I washed out in the parking lot as a bulk bag of creamer had been broken open in the trailer. So Im sure I'll be written up again for it. But It's a Union job so it's dang near Impossible to get fired, I don't plan to be there after the first of the year anyways but still it bug the heck out of me how dang nasty these trailers are and I have tried everything I know of to get it corrected all the way to the V.P. of operations.

Make sure you have some of what you have tried in writing, because we all know who takes the fall when the brown stuff hits the fan/van.

Reefers being sealed are an invitation for mold if you don't clean them. Cleaning/housekeeping is a normal tax deductible business expense and it sounds like they are cutting the wrong corners. It boils down to the suit in the office who must be nasty.
They need some kind of slap in the face to change their ways.TRKRSHONEY and Lilbit Thank this. -
Board of health Notified was told they will have inspectors out this week at different hours of the day to inspect empty trailers, totes (totes do not get washed either) trailers returning and being loaded.
