That, and a lot of drivers get their radio tweaked and put a linear on it. So their modulation is really high (exceeding 100%) and their wattage gives them more distance with that overmodulated volume. I can sometimes hear them with my RF gain all the way down and my Squelch all the way up.
They're usually just making noise. AUUUUUUUDIO. AUUUUUUUDIO. RAAAAADIO. CHECK. AUUUUUUDIO. For half an hour.

And that's in the middle of Nebraska with nothing but cornfoelds to holler at... Never mind when they actuall get to a decent size city with other inbreds yelping out also.
-
smaggs, where you at, bro?
-
Wrapping up home time. I'm up in Erie, pa at my brother's house. Visiting family I haven't seen in six years this morning before I head back to Pittsburgh. Hoping to roll out first thing tomorrow
-
Hey Smaggs.... You out there rolling? Or sitting at home chillin' still?
-
I've been out for just over a week. Headed back for hometime on the 11th or 12th. 2-3 weeks is all I can handle with a lady at home. If I were single, my hometime would be rare.
Things are good. Paychecks are good. I've been really busy.
Still deciding how long I want to do this kind of work, though. I would like a home life, but I can't have both. -
I'm back to wanting to give up OTR. It's not marten. I'm just tired of slow trucks and never being home. I have things I need to do and I'm not planning on pissing away my 30s at truck stops.
opium eater Thanks this. -
Wow Smaggs been following from the start and its been quite a ride, sounds like your a little down now comes and goes with the life of a trucker so many things aren't right with the industry for everyone, you got to have a iron stomach, sleep standing up,keep a eagle eye on the road constanly watching every liitle thing, keeping your cool in a thankless job. I would get disoriented with the world, I hardly had any contact with home base, like friends and I couldn't handle it after a 1yr1/2 yrs ,so I got out and went to tech school ,got electrical and frigeration. Did that for 10 yrs , then went back to trucking. Because I like to see the country but it sounds like your burned out for now, dissalusioned, disgusted with it all the hours it's a hard life, you gotta love it the nomad life ,the beast, the diesel engine, the sailing down the hi-way with the wind blowing through your hair, the sunrise, the sunsets, the music blasting, yep your a gypsy at least for awhile, you can always come back. Go find your home port ,if you need to mellow out and see what else is out there. Well I dodn't want to be a bore so I'd better get out of here, seeya.

I really like trucking. I enjoy spending time alone. These are the things that bug me.
Control... My truck is governed to 65mph. I'm not going to speed anyway, but this tells me I'm not trusted.
I never get to go where I want. I'm slowly becoming the mindless and programmed soldier of the road. I only do what I'm told.
I pay a ton of money for a house I'm lucky to see each month? That's kind of dumb. I want to be home on a regular basis. I'd like to poop in a toilet that's not already covered in liquid poop. Also, I'd like to be able to brush my teeth and shower every day! -
I feel the same way so I found a Monday through Friday OTR job. Sometimes I'm even home Wednesday or Thursday nights as well. I love the job but it isn't my life. There's companies like that in PA.
