Maria Joseph Thanks this. -
It's part of the job on today's crowded highways. I've received trouble from mostly cars, but also other trucks (which i can't explain). Best response: FIDO (forget it, drive on). Responding to obscenities or gestures just makes things worse.

Yup, I smile and blow them a kiss!

Thanks for sharing that story. The truck driver is a true professional to keep his cool like that. Good for whoever called in that four wheeler.

As a regular 4 wheel driver and an 18 wheel wannabe, I have to say that I used to get very upset at the idiots who weave in and out of traffic. They are the ones that cause accidents by their back and forth sudden movements from lane to lane. I've driven all over the country. Up and down I-95 around Washington, Baltimore, Philadelphia and even a little NY. I've driven out west too alot. By far, the worst area I have seen for these drivers is Atlanta. They have the "NASCAR" attitude and think we are all in some sort of a race on the highway. If they get in front of you they feel they are somehow "doing better".
Years ago I used to get so angry at these drivers because of their disregard for other peoples lives and their obvious selfishness. Today, I have learned to simply ignore them and let off of my gas pedal because if they are behind me, they will pass me and if they are in front of me they will be FAR IN FRONT of me. I want them simply away from me and letting off the gas is the best way to do that.
Sooner or later, these are the drivers who will end up in the hospital or dead. Let them reap what they are sowing.Maria Joseph and MTownZ Thank this. -
Agreed. They all seem to be drafting at 80 mph and have a tendency to turn to the left.

as a rule, we should slow down until the guy behind us passes us. I cant do that. If your on my tail I consider you a pilot fish , you wanna hang back there fine but pay the %^*( attention. you go under my DOT I'm not gonna shed any tears. . If you hop in front of me Ill bail off my speed till we have good clearance. but please if your gonna pass me keep on going..... dont get infront of my drivers side headlight , cut in front than drop your speed by 10.

Yep I see road rage regularly. People love to give us the middle finger for no reason other than us being slow and in their way in the right lane. Regularly I get high beamed when I can't or don't move over for a car on the ramp that is supposed to merger/yield. Seems people don't understand the concept of merging or yielding. I even had a 4 wheeler pull a gun and point it at me because I passed him on the right(not allowed in left lane), he got a surprise when 3 police cars pulled him over. Unfortunately 2.5 years later the persecutor has agreed to suspend prosecution for 3 yrs and dismiss the charge as long as he gets no more criminal charges for 3 yrs.

Absolutely. Several years ago I had a dedicated run from New Hampshire to Wisconsin and back once a week. We always crossed into Canada in Derby Line, VT (most of us, I crossed in Norton, VT as I lived there) and went up to Montreal before crossing over through Ottawa and Sault St. Marie. One day I was crossing the Champlain Bridge into Montreal. On the Montreal side there was construction where the left lane was blocked and all traffic had to merge right. This was clearly marked in advance so it was no surprise. I was traveling in the lane next to the blocked lane over the bridge as I knew that on the other side there were several on-ramps with much traffic coming in from the right and it was much safer to do this do to the curves in the road. One day just as I was going over the bridge and the lane was getting ready to disappear a man in a car tried to pass me on the left. He got about 1/2 way up my trailer before it dawned on him that he was not going to make it. The traffic was heavy so I could not move over and even if I slammed on my brakes he still would not have cleared the concrete barriers in time to avoid crashing into my tractor so I maintained speed and left it up to him. He slammed on his brakes nosing his car into the pavement and missed the back of my trailer by a few feet. Close call. Well, this clown decided to follow me and play chicken. He zoomed up next to me and pointed to the shoulder like I was going to stop my rig in the middle of Montreal and have a chat. When I shook my head no He then pulled in front of me and slammed on his brakes forcing me to a near stop but I was able to move into the next lane and keep going. This continued all of the way through the city and out the other side until he finally got sick of it and took a ramp. I have wondered to this day what that idiot was thinking his car was going to do when it was slammed into by my loaded truck doing 60mph from behind other than die.
Lilbit, ladyfire and Maria Joseph Thank this.
