my husband is getting ready to start with marten we have friends there who seem happy. the company he is with now we have not seen a pay check in 3 weeks and the last one was 152.00. so i was wondering what ppl think of marten. i want to find out the good, bad and the ugly. any info would be helpful. at this point we would be happy if he makes a weekly pay check. however i want to make sure he is happy as well. thank u for your time and hope to get your feedback soon, he starts monday.

If your husband is a mature, logical person, he will do well.
Most negative things you read are just half the story.
In "Search" at top of page, type in Marten Transport.
Keep an open mind. One guy complaining, the truth came out, he's a Christian and doesn't want to haul beer, so Marten Transport isn't treating him right, by dispatching him on beer loads.

I"ve been with Marten for 8.5 years, so you could say I'm pretty happy here. They're basically like a lot of other companies...some days they're great & some days you wonder if there's a functioning brain cell to divide among the lot of them in the office. In the time I've been here, there's only been 1 week where I didn't get a paycheck of some kind...there'll be great weeks & some that won't be so hot. It'll depend a lot on who his fleet manager is & what kind of relationship your husband develops with him/her. I run a dedicated account now so my weekly checks are pretty good...and consistent. Anything in particular you want to know, will try to answer. In the meantime tell hubby welcome to the nut-house & patience will go a long way.

i believe marten is one of those lease companies that does not have a walk-away lease

in other words, if you break their lease, it goes against your credit history

other than that, i have typically heard good stories from most marten (the blue and white reefer company) from their drivers

Ralph is right...no pets. As for where I run, I'm on a dedicated account...I go from Chicago-Toronto-Atlanta with some variations occasionally. As a solo driver you can forget about coast to coast runs for the most part anymore...that stuff goes on the rail. Marten is almost finished becoming a regional operation, mostly because our customers are increasing their region distribution operations themselves. But while I do miss running the big hills...especially in the nice weather, the money's OK. Home time policy is 1 day off for every 5 days out up to a maximum of 4 days off at a time.

I drove for Marten for almost 3 years, my truck number was in the 2xxx range, back then most the drivers were hardcore OTR guys, staying out 2-3 months at a time and running the log book on the ragged edge, I was fine with that and made good money, that was just the culture of the company at that time, I have a feeling it has changed quite a bit though.
