I was wanting to see if anyone had any info on how USA dispatches loads and how a driver keeps track of such...over a Qualcomm? And does USA provide navigation for their trucks? Also, does USA have APU's on their trucks and what percentage of the trucks are Auto? Thanks...

Use Qualcomm for dispatch send communication. But you can talk with your fleet manager during the days with no issues. I'd still make sure important info goes across qc just cya.

Almost all the trucks have APUs now. Some icon systems still out there but most are almost at 500,000 miles so they will be retired soon.

Autos are still around but all the new trucks art 10speeds. Again most autos are close to retirement. If you get one you won't be in it long.

And no navigation provided as in GPS style. Most destinations have basic directions you can request on the qc using macro 7 and the shipper/receiver code sent when you were dispatched. I use the written directions, GPS, atlas, Google maps, and customer directions by phone if needed for clarification. It's all tools to me and I trust none Of them 100% .

In the long run, I believe that a professional truck driver is better off with manual transmissions vs. automatic transmissions, to keep from getting rusty on the use of manual transmissions.

I understand most of it...I worked for Schneider for a short period of time...when a new load assignment came up I would accept it and it would dispatch the directions via Navigo and fuel stops as well...kinda convienient...but Navigo is not truck friendly in my opinion...I also read about USA losing some monies...like alot...so is it safe to work for them? I was averaging 4 to 450 miles a day as a newbie...I drove a freightliner columbia 10 speed manual eaton...so if I were to buy a truck gps and enter the shipper or receivers address it would get me there? Any other info you could give me about USA...equipment care? dispatchers...good to the drivers...miles...routes...how much NE? Thanks for answering...

You get a book that lists all the fuel stops by state. You pick your route. Keep it close to the dispatched miles.

Don't trust any tool but your brain to get you to your destination correctly. Lots of places addresses are correct but the truck entrance is no where near the main address location. USA does not, as if yet, tell us how to get somewhere.

All dispatchers are different. I love mine. I have heard people talk about theirs like it was the devil. So that question is based on opinions and attitudes.

I'm in a cadcadia. We have some prostars, KW, and Pete's. We seem to have mostly cascadias now. Ad that what the bosses are buying. I personally could care less ad long as it runs and a.c. works.

Different mechanics are good or bad etc. For the most part they seem to do a decent job keeping us running. Sometimes a pos truck is a pos truck.

I'm averaging 2300 plus a week. I could probably push a little harder and get more but I'm making decent money and pretty much stress free. Why push it more. My wallet my decision.

Yea I keep hearing about super loans and USA bleeding cash. I'm still getting a paycheck so I'm fine right now. There will be signs well before the doors shut and trucks are shut down. If I see them I'm gone. I wouldn't worry yet.
