This is very much a position that either you have the abilities and talents to be a good one, or you don't. My gut feeling is that a number of people were pressed into service as AMs without more than a few hours training. That is no more sufficient than a few hours being enough to do our jobs out on the road.

I try to be patient....I don't ever want their job, and I don't have the abilities necessary to be a good AM. But when it hurts income, a driver has to do something, and hopefully a company will be receptive in return. Unfortunately, it often doesn't work out that way.

That is about the only good thing I can say about it for me. The majority of the time I get a quicker reply...that and my hometime is usually closer to when I ask, but the down side of that is that my a/m usually trys to get me to the Social Circle/Atlanta area by a Thursday, then pick up a FL load Friday that del's on a Saturday. Then off Sun-Wed. But then it's a screwed up week getting me to Atlanta, then a screwed up week because of a 300 mile Saturday delivery, then try to squeeze something else in Thurs & Fri. It has made me rethink what day I try to get home. Since they don't have any pull as to increasing or decreasing miles...other than being an e-receptionist, I'm not sure I like the rest of the babysitting an a/m does.

As for miles, I will be lucky to see 120k this year. I thought that it was a bigger drop from last years miles. I had 1st thought I had turned 127k last year, but that was the year before, I turned 124.5k last year. Thanks in part to my a/m bringing it to my attention.

AM is on vacation this week. She went last Wednesday right after having me load a 1,667 mile load and drop it in Omaha, for a team to take to Stockton, CA, then going to get the load I am delivering right now (1,553 miles) In Riverside, CA. First time to CA in a while.

I'm not gonna say much , I just started with Shaffer , was told in Lenoir City who my AM was gonna be. Wrong , it's someone else. Now AM's or DM's , are kinda useless if they're here today gone tomorrow. No one wants to have to melt through the ice and get to know the guy he's doing the dirty deed for , just to find out , that just as things started getting pretty good , he's gone , and the new guy comes in with a new block of ice for you to have to melt down.
Another wards changing of your DM or AM constantly is about the same as switching jobs , ya just keep starting all over again.
