Reddaway gave me a road test and also paired me up on one turn to Las Vegas. They wanted me to hook pull triples and hook them. Driver who I went with is was really a cool guy. He keeps me updated on when it might pick back up, etc. Anyway, I already had over 2 years of of doubles experience so it was a piece of cake for me. I had pulled triples too but only a few times. The safety guy who gave me the road test was a really cool guy too. I just had that slight anxious feeling when I started the job as I always do. Got over it the first couple of trips. Now I think they should train people who don't have doubles experience. I think they required me to have 1 or 2 years double experience when they hired me.

Well I bid today for 2013. I guess it is nice to kinda choose your income and set your your schedule with a swipe of the pen. Went back to the night run I had a few years back but I'm 4 slots higher. It will have its up's and downs but overall I'm pretty happy with the way it played out. God awful traffic, here I come..

Nothing like traffic when you're dead tired. Good luck with the new/old run.

The guy who said he makes $550 a week my god...If i only made $550 a week dealing with the aspect of being behind a winshield all day, DOT enforcment, traffic jams, weather, and about a 100 other things that make your day or nite long and stressfull Im not sure if I would slit my throat first or blow my brains out...Maybe it was a typo on your part...I used to work at CGB yellow on the dock until the pencil pushing genius merged them with roadway and moved to the ford heights terminal....I would 100% rather work on a cold/hot dock loading and unloading trucks versus driving...

$550 a week?!?! Must be a typo... Either that or he has an allotment set up that deducts a huge portion towards a retirement account. I went back all 12 pages to find the original post to understand the context, but couldn't find it.

I make about $800-ish a week. Take out retirement allotment ($100) and then Uncle Sam takes his.cut... And I guess I would also be around $550. But that is take-home pay. It's enough to keep the lights on in the house.

I work for upsf it's a great job been there about 8 months I usually start between 9 and 10am I get there my trailer is loaded I hook and go do p&d come back to the yard and work the dock for outbound by that time I'm on overtime so 25$ an hour to run a forklift is fine by me it's sucks being the new guy you get low pay and do all the hard work when I'm on ot I don't make what the other guys make for a regular hour witch is 26.15 an hour I know I'll be there after 3 years so I'm very blessed. We have two line haul routes both at night leave around 8pm both guys make over 100k a year can't imagine that kind of money for driving a truck ltl is the way to go wouldn't trade it for anything

I know a couple road drivers at UPSF from back when they were Overnite and both make well over 100k. Your road drivers have the highest top rate cpm I know of by far. If I remember right, your contract tops out in 2013 and you'll make even more. Good deal man. Stick out the BS and get some seniority there. That's the place to be.

Not gonna lie... I've worked twice last week. 900 miles last week, 700 this week. I wish my bills would adjust to the job tempo climate. I am just about ready to throw in the towel and go OTR.
