You can take up to 7 BUSINESSES days off before you must be available for next dispatch. I did this last May when the Mrs & I took a seven day cruise. With no vacation time it will be unpaid.

The Hometime Policy at Poly is much different than most trucking companies. They don't require you to be out any amount of days to get days off. They only require that your weekly average miles stay above 2000 and you go home from an Outbound load. You are allowed up to 7 business days off. That means weekends and holidays don't count as any of those 7 days. You can do that as often as you want as long as the two mentioned conditions are met. They aren't paid days off unless vacation is used for them. Very handy for taking time off with the family or whatever. Nice not to have to worry about being out for 5 or 6 weeks to get a week off. Hope that helps answer your question about Hometime Policy at Poly. :)

Thanks, gents! I knew it was something more generous than the traditional OTR position. I'm still not looking to change...unless a few things happen here at Crete....which may just occur. Weezel see....thanks again.

Long but not very productive day (280 miles). Rolled into Cedar Falls, IA to the Target DC and ended up being there about 5 hours. On top of that discovered that T-Mobile sucks ### in most places in Iowa so couldn't use my phone for anything. Luckily got all my next load info via QC. Picking up in Muscatine, IA and taking her back to Winthrop, MN before heading to Up North after unloading. Sitting in Muscatine at the shipper and hoping to get loaded early. Don't know when my unloading is scheduled (if it is) but hoping to get it knocked off tomorrow and get back to the yard for a load on Thursday morning. Luckily managed to get my Verizon internet modem working and got Skype downloaded on my new computer so hopefully that will be able to pick up some of the slack for this ###### T-Mobile connection. All in all the weather hasn't been too bad up here, just a little cold, hoping my luck holds out with Minnesota tomorrow.

Do Poly's Maxxfarce Prostars have the weed burner exhaust like Crete's or are they a normal 'stack up the back'?

Another thing I dislike about Prostars, especially in winter is the sleeper hvac controls. Get it set so everything is nice and comfy, then stop for a quick coffee break or to wet a tire...and it resets itself back to ice cold when you start it again. It isn't bad in the summer when you're using the a/c, but in the winter when you need the heat...brrrrrr.

Nice when things work out as planned. Was able to get unloaded at Monsanto in Muscatine 5-6 hours ahead of schedule which gave me a shot at making delivery today. Called the customer and they closed at 1600 and driving straight through I figured I could be there by 1530 which is the way it went down:) Headed on over to Up North at Cottage Grove, MN after that and ordered me up a pizza for a hard days work. Still haven't gotten word on my outbound load from here yet. I am thinking about keeping this freightliner instead of switching back into my Volvo. She is likely the fastest truck in the fleet and pulls like an ox.

They have stack exhaust. Don't know about the older Prostars in our fleet, but these new ones have 3.25 rear ends. Which means anytime the truck speed gets below 60mph I have to down shift if going up a grade. At full throttle (68mph) the engine is only turning 1475rpms. Makes for better fuel economy.

Thanks Frank! I arrived at BJ's last night. It was exactly as you said. Thankfully I ignored my GPS and turned LEFT onto 146A. I have my beeper now and am waiting for a door assignment. I haven't heard from Backhaul yet... Keeping my fingers crossed I will be heading Texas bound this afternoon.

I found out the 'lug it down' like they want you to do w/these engines doesn't help the mpg's like they say as well, not sure what gears Crete runs. I've done it like they recommend and find myself dropping more gears to climb a hill just like every other diesel engine. It's like the OnGuard, sounds like a good idea, but making it actually work like it should is something entirely different.
