Praying I will be in Wisconsin in the next few days!

 

Done for the day in Richmond, KY. Gonna spend the rest of the afternoon wondering WTH our world is coming to with the latest school shooting in CT.

 

Was reading about that.. Horrible

 

Was approached by a lady Prime driver a little bit ago. She asked if I wouldn't mind helping her slide her fifth wheel. I said "sure", and we went to her truck.

Pretty much a brand-new Cascadia...fifth wheel didn't even have dirt on the pins. Anyway, I crank down the landing gear, she lets down the air bags, and it easily slides to the desired position.

But then, she steps down out of the truck, I start to retract the landing gear...and the truck starts rolling backwards! There's a truck to my rear, so I can't back up. Fortunately, she quickly and nimbly hops back in and pulls the knobs, thereby keeping this day from getting any worse.

Better go to bed before anything else happens....

 

Breinigsville, PA, listening to tales of 7am appointments and still no door assignment at 2:30pm. Gotta love the unions that make this stuff possible.

Trexler Plaza near Allentown, PA. Will be here all weekend unless something good pops up on the boards. SO many calling me with cheap freight ALL day long. They must not be needing to move it too urgently.

 

I'm afraid this is not the exception, it is the new norm. I don't have kids, yet I've shed tears a few times today hearing and thinking about this tragedy. And the little chicken sheyat commited suicide rather than face the consequences. Why couldn't he just go out in the woods, kill himself and let the wild animals feed off him? And without turning this into anything political, gun control is not the answer. I'm so sick of hearing about these mass murders every week. I just can't wrap my head around what is going on in this country. May the families, friends and victims all find peace and comfort. Every person associated in any way with the school was a victim today.

 

Seems like this stuff almost always happens where guns are not welcome.

Perhaps we need more concealed carriers in schools.....

Oh and on topic...

Home as of about 19:45 (early for a Friday) Took all told in three trips about 15K# to Air France. Then spent almost 2.5 hours trying to pick up one stinking carton that you might have thought was Hush Hush Top Secret or something. Then another two cartons elsewhere and two more one other place. A one crate three carton load to Cargolux finished my day.

 

Sat down to have lunch at the Petro in Effingham and was reading the news while i was eating. Made it halfway thru my meal and left after reading about the shootings. I really just sat there shaking my head and trying to fathom what these peeps are going through. God bless everyone involved. Well after lunch i hit the road and ended up at the peelot in Boonville MO. Guess i'll take advantage of the Idleaire and sleep warm tonight lol. Then it's 2 days to go 100 miles to Ottawa KS. Gonna try and get some rest and put this day behind me.
