I remember when power steering was not the norm and drivers were in alot better shape( huge biceps) back in the day.
Ran around Chicago w/out power steering in the begining

I remember (riding in the jump seat as a kid) when drivers helped one another. One truck broke down and 2 or 3 behind him trying to help. Dad broke down in a W series Ford cabover at the exit of a Union 76 in Bloomington and before we knew it, we had a couple of drivers trying to help get it started.
I can also remember companies like "Corn-Flake"(CF), Preston, "Double Diamond" (McLean), "Trashcan" (Transcon) and P.I.E. were running up and down the highway.
And the left lane was called the Monfort lane.Logan76, snowblind and Thomas Lumpkins Thank this. -

When cruise in trucks came out, 15 speeds were the norm., not running a log book, and if you had a marker light or 2 out the dot would just tell you to fix it not write a long ticket with 15 made up violations
7-UP Thanks this. -
When WY would give us a post-it to stick in the windshield to show that we'd gone through the port.
When truck stops had signs telling the general public that drivers would be served first.
Heh, when here were still truck stop around and not travel plazas. -
I remember when I drove a Red White tractor trailer truck that had air steering. Just in case some do not understand, it was painted red, the brand name was White, & it had a 250 Cummings.
