"Get a CDL in less than a week" ....is that even possible? If it is even true, how would you feel about sharing the roads with people that have a week of training? Sure some are naturals, but most are not.
-
There is a truck around Dallas that advertises Rent this truck for $250 Guaranteed CDL
It is an automatic with a 27' pup trailer.
Not likely that is going to get you hired anywhere.
As for age, 18 is good for intrastate and Texas is a big State... -
I got mine in less than a week. With the total time spent in a class and behind the wheel, I'd say it would add up to 4 days 9-5. Luckily, I'm a fast learner and a good driver, so it didn't take me long to get the hang of it....

So you are an exception to the rule. One of the few naturals. I used to be a truck driving instructor for the military. We had one guy that sucked so bad that it took him 120 hours of drive time and five different instructors before he could do basic backing and drive a truck around minimal/moderate traffic without sideswiping and hitting stuff. Just for comparisons, it takes 80 hours of flight time to get a private pilots license. He was eventually certified but was never allowed to drive.

Yeah, I was a trainer with my last company and some of the kids I got....wowser. I'm not saying I'm the best driver out there. I just know enough to take my time and to not hit crap! My dad would put me on his lap to drive our van down the interstate at 65-70 mph when I was only 8 years old, so driving has been pretty much second nature my whole life.

I work for a small company outside pittsburgh PA and they advertise on local craigslist every so often and sometimes the local news paper...we don't have a website or anything...
we have drivers making 65k+ and home on the weekends so I wouldn't say that all companies that advertise on CL are to be passed over. -
exactly my company has 38 trucks all pete 379's chromed out they do all of they're driver recruiting through craigslist we do have crappy dispatch at times but it is getting better we have driver avaraging roughly 50-70k a year depending on there work ethic also the owner of the company is probally the coolest and most level headed guy i have ever worked with.
even with all the trucks 4 other business's he always finds time to bs with the driver's when they come back in from being out and really wants to know how ur doing.
so to say ALL companies that advertise on craigslist suck is extremly unfair but i will agree MOST have a lot to be desired.
when calling these companies you gotta expect the worst (it's cheap advertisement what do u expect) but at the same time you must be open to giving a company a shot if what they have to offer fits ur needs and also check out they're equipment if it doesnt meet ur expectations dont feel bad just to walk away i've done so many times
If i go to a company for an interview right after the interview i go and look at the trucks, shop and office and interview them if they have crappy poorly maintained equipment i say sorry i aint interested no big deal -
Aero trucks with van bodies and sleepers for local delivery? I understand the sleeper for oilfied but still. Sounds fishy. Required to not have a CDL. No phone calls. No resumes. No nothing. Pretty obvious either that company is tarded or its a scam.
Craigslist has gems amd scams. You just have to be smart. Too many people believe in trust and get taken advantage of.
