umm me and redd both were confronted about disparaging comments about mercer by monkey face himself
volvodriver01 Thanks this. -
Do I come across as complaining?
A guy asked how many trucks are sitting in CA, and I answered what I have been witnessing over the last year or so. Any Mercer who has ventured into CA lately can back up my claims. Nothing wrong stating facts, is there?
As I wrote in my previous post, I'm not exactly happy with what Mercer has been doing as of late hiring drivers left and right, but I have no reason to trash them either. I too fared pretty good in 2010 & 2011, and they have treated me pretty good thus far for the most part.
I'll just go back to observing. -
sometimes you have to hire drivers to get more freight. Maybe Mercer plans to make a big push for more freight contracts this year.

Are they saying anything about the upcoming construction season ? ?

Thank you for your vote of confidence

Was that with your Mercer discount? No way Mercer is bad they would have most likely jacked the fuel up 50 cents. Cheersherfinharry Thanks this.

well mercer never leased to them .and never would. run my own athority.and mercer lowest rates on loads of any other broker i work with.
-
The fact is all you mercer drivers are selling your self short on pay, there rates suck I pull way better loads off load boards and my customers I run for don't pay me BS rates.you can pull dryvan and get the rates mercer is paying and don't have to do sheet and some of the big company's pay all miles!!
Real Deal Thanks this. -
Im fairly new to this operation but i've learned rather quickly to keep your expense low. I have a 94 379 with an N14 Cummins and here lately I have been getting anywhere from 7 to 7.88 mpg. Of course this doesn't just happen, I have to work for it. I run 58-60 mph Everywhere unless coming off a hill. I also have 3.91 rears and a 9 speed overdrive. The company where i am leased to huals fairly tall and wide loads. I have one of the most NON AERODYNAMIC trucks there are and im achieving excellent fuel mileage. When your the man buying the fuel this should sink in rather fast. It cost me $.58 per mile for fuel the rest is all profit. Any how i guess im trying to say is that just try different techniques to make a profit. I know that it'll kill 1/2 the Professional drivers to slow down and try this, but the way i feel about it is that, the more people that get out of this business, the better for me because less competition. I dont want to see anybody go bankrupt or anything like that but just see soon into their expirence that their not making what they need to. I believe the reason there's so many guys driving now a days is because their too dumb to do anything else or somebody told them there's alot of money in trucking. Having said that, anybody can drive a truck buty it takes some level of intelligence to get from point a to point b without running into or over anything as well as being able to find your own way around instead of relying on a gps to do our job. On the other hand there is money to be made but you need to be able to manage it. The company that im leased to, from what i understand doesnt want guys that cant carry themselves. Its not the companies fault if a guy needs a trailer chains binders straps edge protection etc. They had to buy it so if your leasing a trailer or any other equipment from them, you need to pay for it as well. Im not trying to offend anybody but it takes some brain power to be an owner operator.
spacetrucker88 Thanks this.
