I have a 2013 Cascadia with 7000 miles on it.Does not have apu,has opti idle I believe. It idles when temperature is above a certain set point and below a certain set point.Got a call from my dm this week about my idle time which was 30 percent.I told him my truck has only been idled when the temperature is above 70 to run the ac at night.Never once got a call about idle time in my old 9400 I had in 2007 nor the trucks I had with apu.If you set the truck up to idle like this and know its gonna idle all night if the temp remains above 70 why am I at fault for high idle time lol.I turn my truck off when checking in and out of customers etc etc, never let it run just to be running.Hopefully I don't get any more calls about idle time summeris not even here yet

Its not surprising. I had a major hub failure on my trailer yesterday which caused an overnight stop in Colbert, OK for repairs. Two studs broke leading to vibration which broke several others and I almost lost a wheel. Mechanic explained to Breakdown 2 days in a row that in his opinion, the studs were corroded and old and that they were likely to have failed due to heat making the metal brittle. The heat was determined to be caused by a brake pad that applied on the bottom of the drum on only that axle on one side due to a spring failure. Yet Breakdown asked 9 million questions about any stretch of the imagination possibility that the driver could have been at fault. They wanted to know if there was any way that I had left loose lug nuts, if I had run without hub oil (which was full BTW), etc. Not too mention I picked this trailer up at Van Buren after it had been through the "DOT Safety Inspection lane."
I can see that I'm going to end up having interesting conversations with management types if they feel they are going to enact cost savings solely upon the drivers.keith900629 Thanks this. -
its just plain crazy.I told him they set the truck up to idle like this so why get mad at me when the idle time is high? It was only idled at night when the temps were above the parameters they set up,so in my opinion I idled when I could do so.I sleep with my windows cracked and back vents open when its cool enough to do so

You know what is bad about that? I hate to see them starting that. Schneider started that. They put sensors on the trucks. They won't idle between 20 degrees and 70 degrees. I don't know about you but 20 is a little cold. I didn't think USA would start that. That really bumms me out. Also there was a little bunk heater for the winter. After about 4 hours the cabin batteries go out. Then you can't idle the truck to charge them. Suction is applied. -
i think everyone got a call, my fm called me about my fuel econ. i got a 2010 cascadia, and im only at 8% idle from when my apu went out. Per joe from fuel econ. There are doing a study on fuel optimize, from what i was told today, from where they buy fuel from etc. It's why they started wanting to know how much fuel we have before we start are runs now. i have had 30%+ on over idle when my apu was out to keep warm this past winter, never got a call about it.

Not true we can't idle between 20-70 not to bad to deal with.
