Why so many accidents every week?

Also I never said anything about after an accident. I was refering to a routine stop and/or insoection. Also my my cell records can be obtained from verizon with a warrant. If a judge issues a warrant for verizon to turn them over then obvioysly he believes I did something bad and tge records are pertinent. If he will not issue the warrant the tge LEO and DA are sol. Cops can get a warrant over the radio very easily if the case deserves one. Again it may waste my time to stone wall a LEO but I will not give up my rights. I've been asked while stopped if ge could search my vehicle. I said no. He asked if I had something to hide. Again nope. He asked again. I said no again and was I clear to leave. He said have a nice day. And that was after only getting a warning ticket.

Yall do what you want. Give up any rights you want for the sake of speed and convienience. My having a cdl does not preclude me from my rights. Will I get a night in jail? Maybe. But a decent lawyer will take care of things. Don't antagonize a leo and stay polite and professional but I have rights for now. Until they are repealed I will exercise my rights.

That's the smart thing to do and the way I'd handle it. Take the extra step, make certain your phone is password protected, do not give the password.

 

I don't understand. He or she wouldn't want your phone unless they saw you talking on it, or you had a wreck. If you get a ticket for being on the phone, do you not think they will check your records for the large fine imposed on truck drivers. I'm a rebel too. But technology is killin us.

 

Not the point. My point is ge nay have pulled me for a random lvl 2 or 3. Asks for my phone to see if I've been texting or talking on it. Its all "what if" situations. My point is not for a specific incident that has happened. Its a general rights statement. I am always repectful and professional with LEOs. I know how hard their jobs can be. I've been shot at as an emt with cops on the scene with me. But regardless of all that I have rights and will not willingly give any of them up and I'd stand so you wouldn't have to either

Check the links I provided. You will see not only am I not a fan of cell phones, mine is off all of the time EXCEPT when I need it and only then do I turn it on and never when I'm working. It's even off when I'm off duty unless I have to make a call. I have one only for emergency reasons because my company requires it otherwise I wouldn't even have one.

Secondly, the links provided show some LEOs are checking cell phones during routine traffic stops in some areas. A routine stop can be something as innocuous as a DUI checkpoint.

Lastly, one of the links show how a court has ruled where a LEO searching a cell phone is no different than searching a container. It can possibly be likened to them checking out the fluid in a cup you're holding to make certain it's not alcohol, no warrant needed.

Doubt they'd check your cell phones records for a mere traffic ticket unless it was fought in court then I assume they might but for a routine ticket not challenged, why bother?

 

Well personally I don't like phones. So I don't use it much. I pay by the minute. $30.00 last me 2 to 3 months. I didn't know they were doing that. You would think they could spend that time doing something constructive. "Oh Well" I don't care for Bears either. Screw em.
