It won't be that way for drivers that go to Canada . Canada requires a 36 hour restart and it's the first thing the check on American logs . The second thing they look for is logs for the past 14 days then the license plate numbers of the truck and trailer on the log .

This may be true, but I believe we are discussing U.S. regs, not Canada and this is where my comments are directed.

NOT 8 hrs of driving. It is 8 hrs of on-duty time.

I don't believe this is set in stone as of yet. It's under appeal by the ATA and the court of Federal Appeals heard arguments just last week. Although FMCSA recently denied a request by the ATA to delay the start of the new rules set to take place in July of this year, the court has not yet ruled on the appeal. There is no deadline for the court to rule but opponents are hoping a ruling overturns the new HOS rules before they are set to take effect.

I was in a webinar hosted by JJKeller this week and they stated the FMCSA will implement the new rules as proposed whether or not there is a pending court case. If any changes are required as a result of the court cases then they will changed.

Yes , but it applies to U.S. drivers that go to Canada . Go into Canada with a 34 hour restart and they'll put you OOS .

Not necessarily. Canadian logs can be run on recap with as little as a 24 hour break
in a 14 day period. A 36 hour break brings all the 'clocks' up to full tank.

You basically have 336 hours to play with in 14 days up there. You can replenish the 336 hours with just a 24 hour break however the daily hours are limited by the recap.

This is a good thing.Truckers spend to much time on the road and should GO HOME every weekend to have a personal life and get well rested.
