With all those layers of clothes Rocks, you'd melt up here. It's been in the upper 60s and 70s the last couple of days. However just for you, it reverts back to winter on Monday, complete with snow and rain. They're calling it spring snow, whatever that is.
Let's see, since I last posted, I think I was at York, NE. From there I done the Palmer-Emporia. Then I wound up in TB country, loaded Buildex for Frankfort, KS. I ran out of hours at Hiawatha, and camped out beside the Casey's store. Had to run done K-99 hwy, from Frankfort to Emporia. Most if it is not bad, however there's a 10 mile stretch starting at Alma that I hate with a passion. It's narrow, no shoulders, a real roller-coaster, which I don't like.
Today left the yard headed to Louisburg to deliver salt. Right in front of BETO, a real idiot big-truck driver, pulled out of the BP right in front of me. I was in the left lane, had cars in the right lane beside me. I seen him inching out, so backed out of it and was braking. He then turned the cab to the left (north) as if he was going to wait for me to pass and then pull into the center lane to go north. WRONG, the fool, suddenly shot across all lanes headed for the NB entrance ramp to I-35. I managed to get shut down, I mean a complete stop, almost stalled my truck, just as the rear of his box trailer passed in front of me. I couldn't see the ICC bar it was so close. We can't use the proper language to describe people like him. I mean it was almost sunrise, not really dark at all, I had my headlights on, and he couldn't see me or the other cars? I know he could, because of the sudden turn to the left.
Then about 20 miles later, just north of Lyndon on US-75, a coolant hose goes. So I had to do a roadside repair. Then I thought the water-pump failed, so I had to drive to Topeka. Well they said they wouldn't be able to get to it today. I thought crap, so I went out opened the hood, and messed with it, tightened up the hoses and could not see where it was leaking now. I caught one of the mechanics outside smoking, so I grabbed him to have a quick look. He couldn't find a leak, so he went and had the head-cheese come out for a quick look. He gave it the green light, called my dispatch to let him know it seemed ok. So I finally got to deliver my salt to Louisburg.
From there went to the caves in Bonner Springs, loaded and delivered to Ottawa. Finally returning back to the yard around 4pm. So home for the Easter weekend!! Hope everyone has a great weekend. I think this is one holiday it really doesn't matter where you're at to be able to celebrate it. So stay safe!!
Where are you

Very exciting day you had Eaton!
Glad you were able to avoid hitting the idiot... And could fix problem with your truck... :smt023 Have a nice Easter weekend at home.
And thanks a bunch for all the hard work you do out there on the roads for all of us.
Eaton18 Thanks this. -
Missed you again, Eaton
One of these days we're gonna be in the same place at the same time, although I'm not quite sure how we'd know if we were
I'm definitely glad you were paying attention and were able to avoid the jerk who obviously doesn't know how to drive. Are the grandkids coming to visit for Easter?
Miss Rocks, it's been lovely weather here the past 2 days, and as Eaton said, that dirty "S" word is in the forecast again for Monday. I'm not going to let that spoil the fact that I've had one of the best days I've had the entire month. It went so well, I got to leave work 2 hours early and get a little real sunshine. Drove home with the windows down and the sunroof open. I wish you could be more comfortable in the climates here.
Dave, it's good to hear you still have your shade trees to keep you company while waiting for your next delivery.

Just what you need rocks, a desk jockey telling you how to drive your truck! Slowing down isn't the answer to all things MPG. Wind , terrain, load, traffic etc all contribute to affecting overall average mpg. How does that tool know whether you're pushing a headwind all day or in stop and go traffic with a heavy load? All they look at is a bunch of numbers and start giving orders off of them. Tell them you will drive the truck the way you have to or they can drive it themselves! Nothing PO's me more than desk jockeys telling a driver how to drive!

Thanks for the comments peeps! I never did get another dispatch but at like 17:00 dispatch interrupted my visit here after that post to tell me to go home.
I may have mentioned a guy that worked for my company back several years. I spent better than an hour talking to him as he worked on the brakes on his trailer.
Got here at 19:47. Dinner and TV and here I be yet again! -
Is there a bar at that receiver's luck?
Why the heck didn't you call?!? I figured you'd be long gone from there. I'm in Anna. Got here too late to have dinner at the Italian place next door.
volvodriver01 Thanks this. -
Mad as a hornet! On my 9th hour of detention in Orville Ohio....
They told me "oh yeah we've got plenty of room for your sugar" when I took them a load of corn syrup earlier in the day...volvodriver01 Thanks this.
