They used to have some trucks with APU but removed them all because maintenance was very expensive... and they are not planning on installing APUs in any truck. I have tried that alternative you suggested once before on a very cold day. Not purposely... I spent one and half day inside truck stop so I would not use the truck battery and would not idle... But could not start engine in the morning... Since I guessed that would happen, I chose to park at a TA, right in front of the shop bay...
In a couple of weeks I will have completed 5 straight years in this company only, and doing a great job... My MVR has zero points, my CSA record shows one inoperable headlight 2 yrs ago only and my employment history with this company is good. I guess I can find what I want somewhere else... Working on it...

 

well i have put in 5 apps in last 5 weeks been accepted by all
the thought of getting everything out of the truck
and learning another bunch of office rules paralyzes me

 

It's 56F here right now. It's sunny And that nasty snow from last night has melted. Was going to have live unload today at this WM store but instead, had to drop trailer and get an mpt because they couldn't use their jack pallets to unload... And after I had already backed my trailer onto the middle dock as they asked, I had to get the mpt that was at another dock and move my trailer from the dock in the middle and put it where the other one was... Sometimes this excrement happens and I HATE when that happens... that's free labor... but there's nothing I can do about it... as long as I stay in this account.
Anyway, did my groceries, cooked my meal, had my lunch. There's a China buffet right behind me but I would not spend money to eat something that I can cook right inside truck... Now will do a few other things here and will try to take a good nap. Leaving at 1 am to be at next shipper in MN at 7 am.

 

It also has the best showers ever!

 

I hear you man... and sympathize with you... As for me, I will be very pick when choosing my next boss/company... it may not be easy to find... and I don't like the idea of living in an extended stay hotel till I find exactly what I want... But not sure I would rent a place either... Other things to consider too... so, I'm taking my time...

Fine. Show them just how expensive FUEL is because you have to IDLE without an APU.

It really sounds like the company is taking advantage of its drivers. There is NO reason for you to live in an environment that's any different from the other company employees who get to go home every night.
