Hunt Transportation

I had to adjust to that myself having started with swift flatbed in Phoenix but now I just park at Loves in Chandler and leave it there. Never had a problem yet. I live in Gilbert (parents do anyway, I just stay with them) where are you?

 

I was afraid you were going to say that lol, the one side of town without any truck stops! Maybe try talking to someone at one of those places if it's ok. Worse comes to worse park at the J or Liberty on 59th and I-10 and just have a little drive to the house.

 

Don't mind at all, but definitely check the link that cpape posted up there to that other thread, we all post there and the info that American-Trucker posted at the beginning is still relevant. Anyway, miles are between 2500-3500 per week, lower side during the winter months, especially if you get an oversize with curfews. Miles pick up big time in the summer months however so now would be a good time to get in. Tarp loads really vary, you might get three in a row or have none for three months. I rarely have to tarp, one out of every five loads maybe? Drop and hook is not that common, not sure how common it is with any flatbed company but we do have some though not much.

We drove team for them from August '04 to March of 05. If you are a single driver they are probably okay to drive for. They are not set up for teams, however, in our experience. They kept pressuring us to separate and drive our own trucks as solos as we would "make better money then." Well we weren't willing to do that and we left when there was a health crisis in our family. You will hear they are not part of Crete Carrier Corporation, that is somewhat true. Hunt Transportation is part of the Acklie Group, self-insured for on the job injuries, and their health insurance is expensive and a joke for out of state employees. So there ya have my opinion. I am a former Crete driver who is familiar with Hunt. In fact, I have accepted their job offer. I will be starting there soon. I have given my current employer formal notice of my intention to leave. As I learn how things are these days, I will keep you informed.
