Went to company for e-log class this morning... I and another guy were the only solos there... Every body else were teams and most I think, newbies. I asked a few questions but seems to me folks were not very interested... And another guy and I had some argument...
Another one said I was trying to "beat the system" because I asked something and gave a legitimate typical scenario that happens to me often... Someone called me "supertrucker" just because I said that I've been driving for over 5 yrs without any DOT accident...
Maybe for those folks, that is considered "supertrucker"... But for me, that's just knowing how to do your job safe and right. I guess this new generation of truck drivers will be just like dummies... And the new HOS is worse than I thought...
teddy_bear6506 Thanks this. -
Remember Rocks...most of these "drivers", think that all they need to do is push down on the throttle and everyone else will get out of their way OR ELSE!
The HOS changes really aren't that severe...30 minute break before the 8 hour point of your day, one 34 reset in 8 days, now the reset rules are a biggie...2 periods of 0100-0500 must be included....which basically makes it a 48 hour restart unless you start/stop the reset within a specific time frame.
These pencil pushers think our lives in the truck are like their lives behind a desk....yet they can work two 8 hour jobs, rack up 80+ hours in 7 days, and we are only allowed 70 hours in 8 days....Rocks and teddy_bear6506 Thank this. -
Waiting to get fuel in salinas ca. This place is the biggest pain in the butt!!

This is what the new rest break rule says (according to info my company gave us): "May drive only if 8 hrs or less have passed since end of driver's last off-duty period of at least 30 mins. (HM 397.5 mandatory "in attendance" time may be included in break if no other duties performed)."
I used to rush my driving and avoid wasting time with rest breaks and during my fuel stops... and would start my 14 as early as I could in order to find a good parking spot for the end of may working shift... but now will have to include 30 mins
Yes.. and the resets... I better not start my resets before 7 pm or it will become a much longer reset...

And perhaps, I better not even take a reset and just use the meager hrs that I recycle...
This sucks or what?

Hate to see what those guys would call me Rocks...if they only knew what "beating the system" is all about...
