the loads are matched according to parameters put into the computer by the coordinator. blind driver may be affected by parameters his truck owner may have set up or some minimums they have set.

but even though you have a coordinator , you have to be proactive. look and match yourself for loads , commit your self to loads. if you aren't matched , match yourself. remember, all the freedom you have with picking loads comes at a price. you cant sit back and hope it comes to you.

your first mistake was taking a load to NE , its a dead area. anything that happened after that is really on you for picking the Nebraska load to begin with. if ya pick loads that deliver in Nebraska on a Friday you ought to have to sit the weekend, lol that's part of the process knowing where to go and not to go, sometimes that 1.75 a mile load to a good area is much better than a 2.25 mile to a not so good area in the long run.

and if ya end up in a bad area, always remember who agreed to the load that got you there. keep in mind blind driver is working on a 30 per cent deal after fuel surcharge. he

thanks skateboard, I had it right in my head from the start but the way he phrased that it confused me for a short minute. When he explained further I realized it wasn't what I thought he was saying. Husteling your own frieght aint for the weak hearted or easily frustrated person. Then again nothing about trucking is. I just like the Mercer deal cause it gives me a small bit more control over my own destiny.

actually I get 75 per cent but with most most brokers charge for fees its really a fifteen per cent difference, then take out 3 per cent factor , makes it 12 per cent, then figure I don't have to worry with ifta payments and get 30 to 50 cents a gallon fuel discounts and brings it down further, then figure cargo and liability and its honestly little difference to me. I did it on my own long enough to know, I know that's the old song and dance about giving away 25 per cent, but in reality its nowhere near 25 per cent. I know you like hauling loads for mercer cause they try to pay brokered loads within a couple hours of getting the paperwork and charge no quick pay etc. so that's even saves you factoring fees and if ya let em put your settlement on the tch card they would issue you, you could get the same fuel discount we do , I hope you knew that

Blind Driver just keep an eye on them. the reason I left 2 times in 2 weeks had loads pulled out from under me that should have been mine. all contractor relations could say is sorry that should have never happened. just remember not always first in first out there are those drivers that are given what they want no matter what. slow as freight was wasn't worth it to me to have to fight for loads and Gerald I think was his name in contractor relations ain't worth a crap just my opinion. Hope it works out for ya

Gerald is spineless. He won't even return a phone call.

I would think that my coordinators trucks might get a little special treatment to keep running since he has nearly 40 trucks with Mercer. My truck number is in the 1400s. He's been there for a while. My truck number really throws off the agents as many tell me I don't sound like a crusty old driver to have been with Mercer for so long. Sometimes I say I started driving in Junior High School part time before CDLs came out :biggrin_2559:

Keep in mind I've only been with Mercer for about 4 months. I don't know if it's a good fit or not. I hope it all works out.
