I just picked up contracts with Aldis. We will be shipping them produce, should be all TL, but might be a few splits of deliveries to two DCs. Anyone here deliveriing produce on a regular basis? Anything odd we should know about? Do they kill you on lumper fees? Easy for appointments? This is a big deal account and we want to go smoothly from the beginning?

Unfortunately EVERY ALDI'S dc is different with different rules and regs and policies--some are wonderful and some suck--more good than bad though......so depends on which DC you are dealing with...
But overall not bad....also most are usually better about produce loads
Which DC's are you going to be working with?

Hauled a few brokered van loads into the Aldis DC in saxonburg pa and was unimpressed each time with the wait times I dealt with...

you either unload your own or get raped by the in-house lumper service. I always unloaded my own and never spent too much time there. that was on the dry van side though

most aldi's ive been to hauling produce will let you use the electric pallet jacks and forklift ( if needed ) it will save you $100s in the long run and you will get out quickly at most locations. I don't recommend hiring the lumpers because you will be in a long line of drivers who like to sleep in their trucks.

We have mount Juliet, TN, Denton, TX, Plant City, Fl and Salisbury, NC. Twice a week, straight loads and few lTLs. What are the lumper fees usually?

I am the shippers, it's delivered loads. I am trying to budget the right amount to pay the broker and not have surprises. I only bid it fob and now they want to change to delivered, so am trying to develop my lane rates

That is how the Batavia IL distribution warehouse is. I delivered there once and they let use their electronic pallet jack. Kind of fun actually. Nice people too.
