Not really a prob for me. I can just show the time on tomorrows log. It only took 30 minutes of my time to go over and drop it off to them. No times on bills or check in gates or any of that kind of stuff. Just pull in , back up and off it comes in about ten minutes. By the time I got back to park the engine hadn't even warmed up yet LOL! I will still show the time I used on a log just doing it as if I did it as scheduled instead of today. No way am I waiting until Thursday to drop it. Apparently the receiver is having some kind of shutdown all day tommorow.

These are the kind of things that happen in trucking and when they do it shows the ridiculousness of the HOS sometimes. How can 30 minutes of my day doing a drop negate the other approx 45 hours I will have had off by tommorow morning.

Thank you all for the thoughts and prayers. As expected, while on my way to Chanute, wife called and informed that her mom had passed away. I now know a very difficult part of trucking. You're miles from home, get bad news, want/need to be there but not able to right away. I didn't make it back home until around 7pm. But at least my dispatch didn't send me out on an all week excursion. We will be laying her to rest on Saturday.

Once home I learn that wife took a backwards tumble off a porch while trying to sit in a chair. She didn't mention this to me during the numerous phone conversations yesterday. She waited until I was home...:biggrin_25523: So far she's just complained about being sore, and no noticeable bruising. So will be taking her to doc today to make sure. You know the saying..When it rains it pours.

TB; Thanks for the concerns about the weather. So far I haven't even got rained on. Managed to drive east, south, west, missing it all. Was in mostly sunny skies all day long. I could definitely see those storm clouds though.

For those of you driving through KS today and tomorrow, be careful. Winds are to be gusting up to around 45-50mph, and more severe weather is predicted.

Thank you again for all the prayers and thoughts.

It's wonderful to hear some happy news in a day that has started with bad. Enjoy being with your grandson and all the people you love; you never know how long you will have that. ~Hugs Pony~

So sorry to hear about your wife's mom. There seems to be a little instinct in knowing when the time has come. We never want our loved one's to leave us, but we have to let them go at some point. Give your wife a hug for me, and let her know she's in our thoughts and prayers.

I'm so glad you missed all the storms. Some of them sounded to be pretty bad.

Definitely have your wife see the doc. What may not be noticeable now can cause problems later.

Be safe my friends and take care today, as always. ~Hugs~

Eaton, glad to know you are there with your wife and your family.

When my mom passed away in Brasil, I was a few days from my CDL test in the US. I couldn't focus on the driving... Postponed everything and flew to Brasil to be with my dad. He was all alone... I am his only child... :biggrin_2557: But it took me 2 weeks to travel. As it is impossible to get everything ready in less time. Had to leave things in order, bills paid in the US for a couple of months... A lot of planning... My dad now is the only real family I have and the only one that I love and who loves me. I am kinda prepared... I hope... for when/if he passes away before me. Did some planning already... But OMG! I get chills every time I get a call from Brasil... I don't even answer call from Brasil if I am driving... Don't want to be caught by surprise in the middle of driving...

God bless you and your family Eaton... May your wife's mom's soul rest in peace now.
