Ok i finally got things taken care of so i will be starting my orientation tomorrow, I'm on the HOUND Dog now head to Dallas... short ride from Houston. Arnold has a 3 day orientation so i plan on keeping you all updated with my ARNOLD journey. i almost did not consider this job seeing as how i applied for and was told i would be running what they call the TEXAS TOUR and be home every weekend only running dallas, houston, san ant.... well a few days before orientation starts recruiter calls me and tells me that i will have to run SW REGIONAL for a week or two before i can start on the TEXAS TOUR because that position filled quickly..... altho i still accepted to do that i dont like how they changed that at the last moment after i made my plans.... other than that so far so good., as for now I am "getting to it"

You will like the safety folks you will be dealing with in GP. Bob is super helpful. Pass on the per-diem they have to offer. It entails a .03 or maybe it's .04 cut off your mileage rate. it's a USX thing. The hotel is decent and there is a wal-mart next door. Take advantage of the free coffee to stay awake thru videos, lol.

haha it's ok, i did all my partying this weekend so im ready for the boring days ahead lol

Schneider has been known to use this same switch off, apply for one and last minute say oh no, but would you come on if I could make available within next yr?Then they try to push an impossible to fill slot I guess i did not recognize it for what it was until reading through these forums. I'd make sure have in writing when and how they will get you where want to be area and run wise,or its a crapshoot based on past carrier behavior overall

Drivers who live in Hou/DFW/SA are in a great locale to do the "TX-Tour". Even "regiional" drivers (me) spend too much time doing short-haul TX loads. Ask about the "bump-the-dock" program...

The last 3 days have been a mess!! From day one there is a class of 11 drivers, 8/11 were only coming on because of the texas tour that Arnold offered. The first day we were all told that the texas tour is full and no longer available and that we would all have to commit to SW regional until it reopens(2weeks). (that is the first disappointment.) Arnold put us in a nice hotel near a lot of convenient things i.e.: wal-mart , good resturants, etc.)
Day 1- on the first day we met BOB and most of staff here, did a lot of paper work and watching safety videos. Breakfast is free at the hotel, it's the cheap stuff; lunch is provided, and only ONE dinner voucher is available a 10$ mcdonalds or aspen creek gift card. For the 3 days of orientation we are paid 123$ only AFTER we've taken our first load. By the way the staff here is pretty nice. Drug test was done also, and a road test(drove around the block).
Day 2- on this day we watched more videos, did more paper work, learnt the company systems and so on. A lot of drivers kept questioning the TEXAS tour that we were promised. Finally someone from the operations department came and told us... the wait for TEXAS tour is NOT 2weeks...it is whenever it becomes free, it could be 2wks-2months they don't know and that we will HAVE to do SW regional at .33cpm (L) . we learned on this day that our drug tests got lost in the storm up in NY so we had to redue our drug test.
Day 3- Today 2 people quit, we did more paperwork, and met fleet managers and so on...as we speak we are still unsure of employment until our drug test come back(hopefully today)so we are sitting loosely.
I myself am really considering walking away as well and just going back to my first company which was like GOLD compared to this ARNOLD! sooooOOOoooOoooo
Pros-
Home weekly
Nice hotel
Newer model truck(2012-2013 midroof petes MOSTLY) but cascadias and full sizes are available for trainers and Tall people.
Cons-
.33cpm
Last minutes switch in job
Orientation pay
And from what I have seen on the yard.... The trucks and trailors are WELL used.
The shops aren't open or available 24/7 I believe 7am- 6pm -
Officially left Arnold, that was a waste of my time and a whole week!!! they prolonged the process of hiring people on...only 4 out off 11 people actually stuck it out with them... they didn't want to pay us,feed us, or even get us back home!!! dont waste your time...also from the last thing they told us...that TEXAS TOUR is canceled!!! dont be fooled by false advertisement.
Marco_2oll Thanks this. -
"ahem", not a told someone so,but this is not the worst of it nor the end, JB Hunt for example will haul your carcass down to a training, paperwork center,(unless you insist on flying, cheapo bus ticket) put you up in a less than desirable sleeping room,do the continental breakfast cheapout, have some low cost chunky butt pizza catered in for luncho and then preach to a future driver regarding eating habits? Samo with Schneider, except they'll do the better motel scenario, but gross lunches. Then wonder where all this prtracted over eating and noted early death syndrome among drivers starts?
Say again,if they will not have an offer sheet for you, then this certainly means there is no way to certify what you are applying for, Arnold brought you over for what, hearsay?
Atleast Schneider, though they did the same, advertised then spun a story about position taken from driver already hired, was willing to extend an actual offer sheet, saying I would be next on that particular dedicated,+ offered same sign on bonus(2k)and a specific run I would be happy with for the present.
Decided against accepting job, but this scenario works same for anyone, any carrier.
By the way,Armold should be subject to bait and switch prosecution, sorry had to say, criminal actions deserve proper reactions -
Anyone see that blame machine story started today by ATA against HOS rules..etc..?
They are saying rules are affecting driver retention, no mention as reporter says in article about low blow carrier tactics against drivers, ..manipulation of home time guarantees.. forced dispatch by non qualified never in a truck company hacks.. reminded me of this arnold escapade, WTF!! -
oh ####, getn2it.. i'm going to that orientation next week. LoL. it sounded like it was going good at first. then you were like F this, this was a waste of my time., Ha. man. I gotta do it though. I need a job. I don't care if I gotta do OTR. they told me SW regional. but whatev. as long as its not NYC or NE
getn2it Thanks this.
