Got the message we saved bocuo bucks with only 46% following the fuel solution stops. I think the reason we saved all that that money is due to the 56% that did not follow it but used common sense. Id really like to see the actual numbers.

whatever they saved on that they are losing it on these new Cascadias with no Apus .Been parked two hours and have used 2.1 gallons idling and idle percent has gone up 3 percent since I parked
-
They really don't see it that way and are continuing their insanity. I really thought this new CEO was the answer, but I'm really starting to have my doubts. Once again they are tunnel visioned and are only concerened about their maintaince budget or lack of it. They refuse to look at the BIG picture and how that decission affects the company as a whole. The massive amount of wear and tear on the engines alone by excessive idleing lowers the resale value of the truck enough to cover the cost of the APU. Couple that with the fuel savings and that more than justifies it.
They complain about hotel cost when the apu goes down. Well the trucks ac goes kaput just as nuch or even more. At least with a working APU the driver has a chance. Without it, it gonna be even more hotel time. Because we all know our shops won't fix it right the first, second or third time... -
your right about that and this excessive idling affects my mpg too.I was at 6.6 mpg for the day coming across 40 from Kingman Az through Nm with 43000+ in the box,its already dropped to 6.5 since I parked .due to idling. They call me every week about it.I have been working for them since 2007 and have never had idle time issues or mpg issues even with the old icon systems in the 9400s we had

APUs work when installed correctly. The problem is USA has the maintenance shop install them. APUs are really the answer but don't expect them to see it that way.
Klatu Thanks this. -
I don't know how many of the APU less trucks that have released already, but I do know I've seen at least 6 of their drivers in the terminals complaining about how many times they have had to put them in the shop trying to get them to idle correctly. I wonder how much money that is really saving them?
-
Its because the USA truck shop installs them. If they had thermo king install them correctly and do any repairs they might would have better luck with them.
-
Not only that, Once installed USA doesn't know how to work on them. I had to go do a voltage test on mine myself to let them know the alternator was out. Every time I brought it in they would just tighten the belt. The bearing was ripping the belt up. It took them around six months to listen to me and put a new alternator on. Then it ran like a charm.
-
I went to ThermoKing for repairs. They put a belt on, a spring and a few rubber thingys. I asked why the apu was not fixed. They said the unit had been altered with nonconforming parts and the warranty was void. USA fixed it. It does not make good sense to alter something almost new.

You guys complaining about the fuel solutions; Do you pay attention to the cost of fuel at the pumps you stop at, or do you swipe and glide? Do you know that fuel discounts are only offered at the stops in the system?
