Remember when Mississippi would put a stick in your tank to measure fuel when you every time you entered and left the state? Making sure you bought fuel.

When you could get the little dog air fresheners that were made out of the pipe cleaner material. #### did they smell good and lasted more than 2 days. You could buy the pens with ladies in swim suits, turn them upside down and the suit would disaapear :biggrin_255: :biggrin_2559:

My friend told me a story about when he got his CDL and went out on the road with his trainer for the first time and his first lot lizard came up to the truck, said she couldn't have been more than 16 asked how's your mom feel about this? She responded Why don't you ask her shes three trucks down.

There used to be a mom/daughter platinum blonde pair that seemed to have exclusive rights at the old Bordentown truck stop. They both looked good from 30 paces, at 30 inches that was no longer true! They'd show up at dark, and drivers would still be flashing lights hoping to be next when the sun came up. :biggrin_2551:

I remember when changing the oil included that messy Lubrifiner filter, and the breather was oil-bath as well.
When every driver had a 9/16" wrench handy, and knew how to use it.
When you held the compression release hoping the dang engine would spin fast enough to fire when you released it, without having to get the ether out.
When "call me back in an hour" meant walking to the back of the line at the payphone, cause it'd be an hour til ya got back to the phone!
When trying to stay comfy in the winter with a Cummins was an exercise in frustration! ( But the big boys with the Kittys had a pull out throttle lock)

    'olhand and KAK Thank this.

I remember when most state troopers went home when the sun went down. Because 99% of the traffic at night was trucks. And if they were out the drivers knew them by their cb handle. Of course this was before radar guns.

No doubt on the Winter with a cummins !!! Hair brush, match book, and a flat screw driver. Watch it idle at 1000 rpm for a half hour, jump in the bunk and wake up 10 mins later to a god awful 3,000 rpm panic thinking oh #### I am crashing and going to die !!!

    Hammer166 Thanks this.

And lets dont forget the cab over Freightliners. Take your boots off in the drivers seat because you have to climb over the dog house to get in bunk.
