I am looking at these three companies when I retire from my current job. These are located in the Dallas area where I currently live. Are these companies reefer only? I am looking for a company with no touch or minimal touch freight. I would also consider dry van. I have heard that these are all good companies with good training and mentoring from 2 to 3 months before you get your own truck. Stevens seems to be the only one that requires you to leave the truck at an approved location during home time. What are your thoughts on these companies?

I've never heard anything good about Stevens or CRE. I went through FFE's driving school. It's definitely better than the CDL mills, but it's very accelerated and can be tough if you're not able to pick up on this quickly.

I ended up getting my CDL on my own and joining Maverick. They're the only ones that pay a decent starting wage. They don't have any facilities in DFW, but I live in Fort Worth, so we do get though there.

I've also heard that Stevens and CRE are pretty serious about pushing leases. I just want to drive for the company for my year or two and not get into leasing.

My only issue with FFE was the starting wage of .26 per mile. Just way too low. Maverick started me at .35 and now that I've been here a year I'm at .42.

They start at .29 with a raise after 6 months. Also there is no deduction for school so that helps. 2 weeks of school, 6 weeks with a trainer. 455 a week while in phase 2. If you live less than 50 miles from the yard you have to park at the yard on home time.

Ahh they went up a bit. I did the school there in Fort Worth almost 2 years ago. Was definitely a very interesting two weeks lol.
