So Vandalia now has a security guard at the gate. Scared the crap outta me today. lol They moved that little building out by the gate a few weeks ago, so I didn't think anything was different and I pulled in to go to the fuel pumps, and this blonde security guard jumped out in front of my truck. Scared the bejeebees outta me. I asked her since when did Vandalia get a security guard and she told me last Wednesday. So just FYI to everyone going to Vandalia, there is a new security guard, and she won't let you by. lol

I've already met her. Kinda cute if you've seen the same one. Guess there have been too many MIA trailers there.

That the Ohio yard correct? Last time I was there many moons ago they needed some trailer to go missing Trailer all over the place. No place to park for the trailers

They probably figured that a security guard would be cheaper than repairing a gate once a week. South Holland was a lesson learned.

Itg would be cheaper if they would quit hiring drivers that can't turn without hitting things..But a gate doesn't work by itself, W. Memphis proved that. A guard doesn't work by itself either. A combination of the two works better, but adding bar codes on the trucks and trailers would be a step in the right direction. At least the computer could check to see if a trailer had been assigned to the truck before the gate is opened.

West memphis had a guard at the exit gate sunday night. I was leaving in my pick up to run sn errand and he wanted my name and tag number. Again not my rig but my personal pick up. I just laughed as I told him. I should have said jethro tull to see if he reacted.

I can almost guarantee you that all the missing tools and parts from W. Memphis did not leave in big trucks but in personal vehicles. I know some things left in big trucks becaused of the large quantities of anti-jel I saw some owner ops tossing leaving the shop with and putting into their trucks. But that was only on a couple of occasions.

That turn into South Holland terminal was tight for the new drivers that can't drive or don't pay enough attention. Do they still have a gate there and does it still work lol? IIRC, someone hit the gate withing 2 weeks of them installing it and I think someone hit one of the poles before the gate was even completely installed.

They do still have the gate in S. Holland and the poles still get bent over all the time. They use ti have the same problem in W. Memphis before they repositioned everything to compensate for the blind.
