I stared out back in 2001 with Dick simon and then M.S.carriers, my dispatcher there was an ok guy, since then I've been with CR England with a lease truck bad move with the lease, LCT,ffe, usx, swift ent. wich was a whole lot better I'd say and home time was allways on time.

As a student, you aren't hired, until you solo out, get your own rig and start doing your own trips. 50 bucks a day is about industry standard. However, US Express sucks.

USX at 1 time payed student drivers 10 cents a mile. Now this was back in the 90"s when You ran teams from day 1 doing 6000-7000k per week without fail. So the industry avg is a little more then half what it was 2 decades ago at USX.

Ive been at their orientation for the last 3 days, passed everything, but I found it to be....poorly thought out. The drivers spend most time waiting around, some time watching videos, and the medical people are incredibly strict. I thought Werner was bad because their training sucked, but USX was almost absurd. They keep calling you back into the office over and over and over, and they find even the smallest things, and have to send your file back to safety for changing the number on your PO box, and other retarded things.

Oh, and they have all the medical questions right out in front of everyone, the nurses give you no privacy, you literally have to ask about your medical questions with 50-60 people hearing it. I had to get a release for root canals....

Then I waited all day for a response from the dispatcher, and they gave me a bus ticket to SC without even asking me if that was alright, and when they gave me my dispatchers number, they gave me the wrong number to both him and the account manager, and I had the dispatcher at that number send an email to have them give me a call.

Im not sure what to make of this.

They also stated they had a policy that if you leave for 10 days, you have to go back through orientation. They have these things that tell you if you are going out of route, and they charge $1 a mile...

And the truck I tested out on had a malfunctioning engine and ultrashift, and later left the trainer stranded on the side of the road.

I really have no idea what to think. They actually made Werner look good, and I know what to expect from Werner. USX cant really expect me to get my chain yanked around all day and stick around...

So I called the Crete dispatcher and says they are just waiting for safety to approve me, to call back in the morning.

I am having trouble believing that everybody I dealt with in USX was less competent than Werner. The people in Werner were just kinda not interested, but USX was outright arrogant.

I mean, one woman ran down the hall because she had to pee after being held for hours and hours to see the doctor, and some arrogant guy was yelling at her "Then you are dis-qual-i-fied!"

I wasnt even going to call my dispatcher because I was steamed, I can feel the pressure in my muscles, If I didnt have the wrong number, I would have told him that I had such a bad taste, that I wanted nothing to do with them...

Im going to call Crete in the AM and see if anybody from USX calls me.

Thats EXACTLY what I went threw at their orientation! I exchanged numbers their with a couple of the drivers I was with at orientation, they had the same problem you did. No one returning their calls.. Luckily one of the studets didn't live too far away, he went home left message after message, finally a week passes by he gets a phone call and they found him his traing partner , here's a bus ticket meet your partner etc....
One more thing when i was there about 2 months ago they were short on trainers, they literally had 10-12 students a week for orientation..

    Best of luck to you

Dave, what terminal did you go thru this ?

As a USX employee... I agree that their hiring process is a joke.

A guy at my orientation was bused to Chicago from Iowa then told a cab would pick him up and take him to Markham. No one at Markham was told this. The guy calls from the bus station after waiting several hours. They call him a cab. He arrives just in time to watch us all eat lunch. Sorry driver.

What takes the cake is that he is going to do the lease program. Way to make a good impression USX to a new lease driver.

Maybe they did this on purpose. Breaking his will to make a profit on the lease program. :biggrin_2551:

And now US Xpress put on my sac report that I DID work for them, and at the same time ruined my credit...by charging me for the medical and just sending it directly to a debt collector and putting it on my credit.absolutely do not go to US Xpress. They are in the bottom 15% of safe trucking companies, and they WILL retaliat against you on your DAC and credit report.

I didn't even talk to them... No argument, nothing... And they did this to me.
