$.26 a mile until your 6th month anniversary... that is from time of employment not from.time solo, then it goes to $.28 for the next 90 days, then $.29 for the next 90 days then $.30 after a year. From there it is $.01 a year.
There is also detention pay, stop off pay, fuel bonus etc so it will vary from week to week, but those are the base numbers. -
My apologies... I was delivering freight not monitoring this thread.
Maybe I should get my priorities straight?flue, Corporal_Clegg, Milo161 and 2 others Thank this. -
Maybe,
Stevens should be embarrassed !
How they get any drivers at those wages, makes me wonder....
blairandgretchen Thanks this. -
All depends on how you look at it. I average between 2800 and 3000 miles per week. At the low end that is still $43k per year before adding any of the other things like detention, stop off, bonuses etc.
It's not just CPM... it is also how many miles you run. Everyone's experience is different. We have many who make less than I do as far as yearly gross, some more, but usually that is do to personal performance. I have seen quite a few drivers who make a higher CPM sitting in truck stops waiting on their next load.
Nothing in this industry is one size fits all. Everyone needs to find their own niche. Money is not my driving motivation..I would be I'm a different line of work if it were. I walked away from a job I made more.money at to.go back in the road. I prefer the OTR lifestyle, In prefer running the lower 48, In have turned down regional offers that would pay me more... I live in the Mid Atlantic/Northeast region... I do not wait to drive there everyday.
Stevens always has freight and keeps me moving coast to coast and all points in between. That is why I stay. Others have their own reasons.blairandgretchen, Crazy_Aardvark, Truckie83 and 3 others Thank this. -
So, how much should a fresh out of school driver make?
-
In all honesty,
if you aren't at 38-40 cents per mile after a year,
well..........you should be.
And doesn't Stevens still pay HHG miles, which was OK 20 years ago.blairandgretchen Thanks this. -
So hot shot, how much are you making per mile after 33 years?
After starting with Stevens and staying about 8 months I found a better job running local/regional. Been there less than 2 years and they handed me the keys to a brand new shiney red Peterbilt 587 with 130 miles on it in January. I started at .45 per loaded mile and went to .50, .63 and just got my raise Friday to .67. I also get paid per piece, multi stops, etc.
While Stevens isnt the best paying company around and I really did struggle with bills while I was there, I feel that it paid off in the long run. I feel that had I not gone to Stevens I would be at McDonalds or something similar.Crazy_Aardvark, Corporal_Clegg, Green-eyed Lady and 3 others Thank this. -
Slacker!
KMac, blairandgretchen, Crazy_Aardvark and 1 other person Thank this.
