I bought a 12v Engel fridge/freezer about 10 years ago and it's still humming along. It's either or right now I use it as a freezer, but have used it as a fridge before. Was pretty expensive (about $650 back then for the equivalent of a 40 quart size cooler) but it has more than paid for itself in savings after all these years. Plus it only draws 2 amps, so when I didn't have an APU I still didn't haven't to worry about battery drain.
