Welcome, I hope you don't take my posts here as a sign of how things run normally...I wear my emotions on my sleeve...and I swear my skin has gotten thinner over the years. Good luck!

When I typed that, it wasnt a knock on you! It seems in my later years I too have thin skin and gotten a little lazy!! I will turn down a decent load fpr stupid reasons especially if I dont like the schedule!!

I meant to sympathize with you because sometimes I swear I cause 99% of my own problems!!

I escaped the blackhole and plan came together. Backhaul called just as I was getting unloaded with my Laredo backhaul and I picked up the soda going to mesquite for tomorrow. Around 3500miles exactly one week out.

    jdrentzjr Thanks this.

Managed to also snake a load picking up at PolTex and dropping at GP. Got my GP load all squared away with a 3 stopper ending in Menominee, WI on Monday. Got the old girl through the Beacon this afternoon while awaiting Houston nonsense to calm down. Looks like it is going to be a solid two months running before I get back home, had to bust a little ### today to make sure something got lined up for when I return to GP to get me home. Can't complain about the $$$ but need some down time.

So I'm back. Been having 2 tough months can't reallt get up to speed to make a good pattern on a check. Mostly my kille has been backhaul. First was the pu in laredo on Thursday and delivery in Dallas for monday. Shuttle couldn't take the load. Next I picked up a drop n hook in mass on friday which went to Alabama for Monday. Then a ar drop n hook that went extremely wrong. Picked up poly logs out of mc gehee ar.. 4600 lbs and the closest scale was a hr n half away. With my tandems to the front I was 1500+ lbs over on my drives. Had to go back so they could fix it. 8 hr ordeal. . I think I'm related to the othee guy whoms hated by God lol

Thanks to all posting the negative side of this job. I'm a very positive person & tend to let most of those issues slide when I post. Although I've never had an issue like mojo with the weight of a load.

The reason I don't post most of my bad situations is because God usually helps me make lemonade. As a four instance, I left GP this Tuesday going to Henderson. Wednesday outbound called & days all they have for Thursday is a Tolleson,AZ for Friday with a backhaul going to Houston for Monday. Nothing else till Sunday leaving Henderson. I can be in Houston by Saturday night which means I sit Sunday. That's less than 2700 miles for the week. So instead of sitting in Houston I'm going to spend the night Saturday & most of Sunday at home. After all I can use the exercise of chasing the Mrs around the house & mowing the lawn.

Poly's freight has it's ups & downs just like any regular OTR company. However, given the way we are treated as drivers, there is no comparison in my book. Although my book may be different than yours.

I've written it before & I'll write it again.... POLY IS NOT PERFECT. But for me, it has worked very well.

Again, SSB & others, keep posting your experiences as they may balance out mine & help form a better picture of Poly for others.

After making my last post, I am reading a Daily Devotional while getting reloaded here in Phoenix & since the name of God was invoked as a possible source of blame for bad luck/ circumstances, I thought I would post said devotional ( only because it coincides with subject at hand, I have no desire to turn this into a religious thread )....

Dr. Robert Emmons is unofficially known as "the gratitude scientist". Officially, he's a professor of psychology at the University of California, Davis, and author of Thanks! How the New Science of Gratitude Can Make You Happier. His "10 Ways to Become More Grateful" are helpful, especially number four: Learn Prayers of Gratitude. 1 It's hard to feel depressed and grateful at the same time.

Actually, linking prayer and gratitude together is not so much "new science" as it is old wisdom. The apostle Paul linked the two together in 1 Thessalonians 5:17-18: "Pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks." When we find ourselves discouraged—or "cast down" to use the psalmist's language—finding ways to give thanks is a positive antidote to a negative condition. While it may be counterintuitive to give thanks for the circumstance causing our discouragement, we can still give thanks "in" that circumstance.

Whether you are happy or sad at this moment, give thanks to God for the blessings you enjoy.

Christian doctrine is grace, and Christian conduct is gratitude.

Escaped GP just in time to miss the worse of the Dallas traffic on my way up through Oklahoma. Made it Muskogee tonight and heading toward Mt. Pleasant, IA tomorrow. Had some nice loads leaving Up North but nothing that would get me back to the house or back to GP for a load home. Closet thing was to take a load going to North Vernon, IN and hopefully get something from there back to GP for a home load.

Looked in my truck stop book and doesn't appear to be anything in Mt. Pleasant, IA. Has anyone delivered to the WM DC there and have an idea of an overnight place to park? Got a 0530 delivery so would like to be close at hand. Thanks for any info.
