I am confronted by my friends and family members that I am too old at 49 to start driving a tractor trailer. Believe it or not I had only one job for more than16 years and I am planning to take my refresher course in 2 weeks. I got my Haz and tanker and waiting for my fingerprints results. Please advice .I will be happy to hear opinions from people in the same age category and their experiences. Thanks for all your help and comments.

Agreed. Who do they think they are telling you that you are too old? If that's what you want to do, DO IT! You can show them a thing or two about being "too old" :yes2557:

As long as you choose a mode that is little or no labor, you will be fine. Possibly for another 20 years or so.

I didn't start until I was 45 after 20 years in the same career than got downsized. Happier now than I ever was behind an office door dealing with moron employees that thought the company owed them something just because the sun came up and they got out of bed. You're good to go. If I'd ever listened to anyone across the span of my life that told me I couldn't do this thing or that thing I wouldn't be in the position I am now in that I do this because I enjoy it and want to, not because I have to. Go for it. It surely isn't for everyone or even most, but if you're one of the ones that it clicks for the good days far outweigh the bad.

Recently, when my husband told his mom that he was going to trucking school to be a trucker, she told him that satan was trying to destroy his life!:biggrin_2554:
