Hire someone! I've recieved fix it tickets in California, corrected the stuff, got the ticket signed by Cal Dot officers, and then recieved threatening letters that my license would be suspended for not correcting the defects. Then when you finally get everything squared away, two years later you go and renew your license and discover there is a "hold" on your license preventing you from renewing. I'm not sure how Golden State civil servants even put their pants on in the morning. They are truly the definition of idiots.
I'm not experienced with TVC but I would definitely hire someone who can guide you through the process and provide a fall back when the letters come saying you didn't pay...didn't appear in court...etc.
In reality they write to many citations and have no way of keeping track of the gargantuious amount of fines they dish out. If you call a week or two after receiving a citation, they will usually tell you to call back in two months. It takes them that long to enter the info into the system.robain79 Thanks this. -
Hire a local traffic attorney. You can google one. They know everyone in the particular courtroom.
A lot of them legal plans many times will do about the same thing and secure a local attorney. You just pay extra for a 3rd party.robain79 Thanks this. -
Hire an attorney. ... he or she may be able to get the speed dropped or possibly the citation changed to something minor.robain79 Thanks this.

Here is some advise I have given here in another thread:
I would first call the DA's office for that jurisdiction & see if they will reduce it to a non-moving (unless you want to dismiss the whole thing & pay nothing). But, if your just interested in keeping it quite & dealing with it yourself & not involving attorney's, thats what I would do.... which I have done several times successfully.
Normally if you contact the DA & ask his office for help.... because you have a CDL.... they will most of the time help you.
Normally one of the following will happen.
They will reduce it to a non-moving & you pay the fine.
They will reduce it to a non-moving & you pay a bit more like $25 or $50 for their trouble.
They will reduce it to a non-moving & you pay the fine of the reduced charge.
They will reduce it to a non-moving & you have to sign an agreement which agrees, basically to a probational period, that you won't get another ticket in that jurisdiction within another 6 months or a years etc. However, if you do get another ticket in that jurisdiction, this charge & the original fine will re-instate & it will go on your drivers licence record.
I am sure that there are many other alternate ways that DA's work with you but this is the most common ways that I know of.
The good thing is... its a free shot in the dark. If it works, then your home free, it doesn't go on your record & no one knows anything about it. If it doesn't, you can always retain an attorney & try it that way.
Hope this helps... good Luck

Thanks for your post OP- I run exclusively in Commufornia either on the 101, 5, or 99. Cruise at 62, but we all hit 65+ on occasion (thank God CHP aren't D-Bags on those dips along the Grapevine), glad to hear there are ways to mitigate not the fine, but the #### points and reason for the ticket. How much was it?
-
I used Roadlaw. OOIDA recommends them and they are a contributor to their Landline magazine and Satellite radio show. I ended up paying attorney and court costs, but I had my ticket amended to a lessor charge. I got a ticket for an incomplete log book versus the 15mph over.
I fell victim to own of their speed traps. The speed limit dropped from 55mph to 35mph and the only sign on the right hand of the road was blocked by another truck. I saw the second sign ahead and was in the process of slowing down when CHP nailed me. I pointed out the blocked sign and he informed that that happens all the time.
Good luck with your ticket. I see advertisements on billboards along that route for a "Mr. Ticket" and a "Seymore Law Firm" that help drivers with tickets. You can probably do a Google search for those two as well. -
You can get away with 65 on the high desert on 8, 10, and 40 but no 99? Not a good idea!

Yeah...I saw about ten billboards through that section of 99...it must be a hotspot...thanks
