That's it exactly. At the top of this page click on "CDL Practice Tests" and that shows what he needs to study and test for to aquire endorsements. He can also get a book at the DMV. Google for TWIC to see where the nearest office is to apply for that.

With the tanker/hazmat/TWIC he can get a good tanker job with a company that hires new CDL graduates such as SVTN, Superior-Carriers, CTL.

With other companies such as flatbed/van the hazmat endorsement may be required for hauling certain freight such as car batteries, paint or any number of things.

The doubles/triples endorsement is for companies such as Conway, Southeastern, FedEx that pull double trailers.

A company such as Melton Truck Lines has excellent healthcare insurance for driver and family; check their website. He won't be home as often as you want, but it would be a company to look at for his first year if he decides not to go tanker.

The first year is usually the worst for new drivers, but it doesn't have to be if the new driver prepares by getting all the endorsements and researches companies.

So when he is at CDL school, is he able to get all the endorsements there in class?

He will test for the endorsements at the DMV. The TWIC is just paperwork and fingerprints at a different office.

Super Service has a terminal in Okahumpka, just outside of Leesburg. Don't know anything about them, but they do hire new drivers according to their web site. Here's the link: http://superservicellc.com/drivers/

Try CCC (Commercial Carrier Corporation) out of Auburndale. They take recent grads and you have your choice of PODS, dry vans, and local cement tanker positions.
