I heard about that pile up on the news. I hope none of our regulars were caught up in that mess.
Almost time to go play in traffic the opposite direction (usually I only play when coming to work, but this time I'm going home and don't have to play in it tomorrow morning).FloTheWaitress Thanks this. -
Stanton TN... after deliverin' to a military commissary this morning. Went quickly... even the MP at the gate checkin' my expired TWIC card. One wonders why I bothered payin' the feds another $60 to renew the dang thing?

So park the durn thing and get out there!
You DID bring your rifle, didn't you?
I'm probably not gonna make too many friends with this comment, but that driver that did the video tape, who was sniveling about the salt trucks and sanders not getting out there and doing their job, likely has no idea why that was. He just is looking to blame a government agency for something. Whatever the reason was that the road was slick, trying to assign blame to the highway department for the road conditions, just doesn't make sense.
How about blaming the drivers who did not have enough brains to get off the road, or at the very least, SLOW DOWN. And I am talking about ALL of the drivers, not just the truckers.
I just get thoroughly pissed off at people who don't realize that it is THEIR RESPONSIBILITY to drive according to the conditions present. And that includes EVERYTHING, from the weather, to the traffic, to the capabilities of their own vehicle, to the way they are feeling at the time they are driving. It is NOT big brother's responsibility to drive the #### truck/car/whatever, it is the DRIVER'S responsibility.goingcrazy, Dave 1960, teddy_bear6506 and 5 others Thank this. -
OTOH, I've never been passed by a FritoLay driver who wasn't pouring it on! That looks to be the elevated section of 290... right where one would expect those cold-soaked bridges to freeze up.
...dang! There wasn't a Swifty in sight either!!!

Rothmann furniture in the background
so your right just before the big curve on the elevated section
and how much does a tractor trailer of scoops weigh anyway -
I agree that the idiot recording was just looking to blame somebody. Road conditions can change in the blink of an eye, especially on an elevated section like that. Couple years back we had a massive 100 car pile up near my apartment in Fargo. Road crews had been working at full capacity and then some all day. It still happened.
HeWhoMustNotBeNamed Thanks this. -
My typical trip up to WA...Sac to Weed and that wonderful "MANDY"....enough time for a fresh thermos and two slices of pizza!
Now it is almost time to get this Otter up and over Siskiyou and maybe stop at Eugene or just pour it on and make Aurora! -
Well, doing my one night out tonight for the week. In Ft Worth at this little Valero truck stop on 35W. It aint purty but its a place to stop. Just glad I got here in time to get a space.

That place has been a dump for more years than many TTR members have lived!
Grumppy Thanks this.
