I'm out of Austin, Texas. Originally from Houston, been in Austin since 1983.
It's my privilege to be a member here. I've lurked for some time now and got tired of bookmarking my spot in the threads as well as trying to keep track of what I have and have not read. As I read I quickly came to see what a fine group of folks you all are and , again, it is my privilege to be named amongst you. (is "amongst" a word?)
Anyway, I've always thought I would be a trucker at some point in life. There were many reasons it has not come to be as of yet.....until now. I'm coming off some real life-changing developments, divorce and the passing of loved ones just to name two of them, and I've decided to do what I want to do while I still can. In short, suddenly the square peg has been whittled round.
I have things to straighten out so it will be a year by my estimation before I'm in a truck and smiling. Until then I am here to continue to learn all I can about everything I can. I intend to be as prepared as a person can be when I finally head out.
Thanks for all the information you folks bring to this board and for the job you do out there keeping this great country moving. And for indulging me this introduction.
Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year to you and yours as well.

Thank you kindly.

I've been reading so much and enjoying every minute of it. I have many questions, but haven't stopped reading long enough to post them..lol.SheepDog Thanks this. -
Welcome aboard Road-Kill and thank you for taking the time to read, instead of doing like a lot of newbies do and just start posting questions..We really do appreciate that but, don't be afraid to ask anything.. Again, welcome aboard. OH yeah, around here "amongst" is a word..lol
Road_Kill Thanks this. -
Thank you, SheepDog. Yeah, I prefer to study awhile before I go asking unnecessary/repeat questions. It happens on all message boards. Just the nature of the beast, I guess..lol.
Many times the question is answered "up the road" as I read on through the thread. A tribute to the information to be found here.
One question while I'm here, though, if I could. I can work 20 hours a week, go home each night, and still be rich inside of a year, right?
Arkansas Frost, SheepDog, FloTheWaitress and 1 other person Thank this. -
If you figure out how to work 20 hrs a weak, go home every night and be rich inside a year,,,let us know.
HeWhoMustNotBeNamed, Road_Kill and Arkansas Frost Thank this. -
waving hellooooooo and welcome to TTR!!!

Looks like you'll fit right in!
Road_Kill Thanks this. -
Welcome aboard, partner. You may want to edit your name out of your first post. If you can't, I will. Just ask.
Road_Kill Thanks this. -
I guess that wouldn't be a bad idea. I'm used to sports boards where no potential or future employers would know based on a simple first name. Thank you for bringing this to my attention.
Thanks also for the welcome and offering to edit the post. Yeah, too late to clean it up myself. I would appreciate it if you could go in there and wipe out the first name, Mach E-6!! You guys are great!!!!!!

Got it.

Enjoy yourself.FloTheWaitress and Road_Kill Thank this.
