Greetings everyone, guccimane here. You may remember me as the guy who walked out on Prime. Well I have a tale or two to tell. To catch everyone up, I walked out on prime because of the length of time spent with trainers, I think it was several months (6 maybe?) driving as a team. Not cool with me. I went to swift after that. I was there a total of a week and a half. We had 47 people in our class and only three instructors, THREE! They'd show a maneuver and go sit in a golf cart yaking it up. Only people they helped were the ones who couldn't shift the truck into gear. I went 8hrs and saw one instructor. Hilarious. Oh, and next week we got 14 people who failed to test out of swift school dropped into our class. Do the math and now the class is 61 people.. I grabbed by bag, gave the instructor the finger and walked out.

Fast forward and now I'm with Millis. Let me tell you, there is the Best and then there is the rest. Millis is miles above the other schools. My class is 4 people. I repeat, 4 people. The highest it can get is 6.... Wow. Day one was paperwork, and was easy enough. Day two was log books and day three we learned to upshift and downshift. We drove a tractor around for 8hrs practicing our up and down shift. First time through was with a very patient and informative instructor, he is THE BEST I have seen. After he was confident in our ability , he spent more time with those that needed it, he split us up into two trucks and off we went practicing. Later on he rode with us, and gave us hints to a few things we could do better and then let us go. The individual attention is there and it is obvious this company wants the students to succeed. Kinda nice not being part of a meat grinder school.

So, here's the deal on Millis. To reserve your spot in a school costs you 100 dollars. You had better want to be there and you have to put your money where your mouth is. After that, 400 dollars is due when you arrive to the school. They have new classes starting every month, not every week like these other meat grinders. You are only put up 2 per room at a hotel, with a fridge and micro wave. Transportation is also provided to the school. Seriously folks, there is the BEST then there is the rest. If you're looking for company provided training with a large carrier, this is it IMO.. Anyway. I will update in 3 weeks when I've finished the program, then after I've been with my trainer. Now, if only my roommate at the hotel would stop snoring .... (0__<)!

That's good. One thing I worry about with Swift is how big they are wanting to get and will eventually take over more and more of the industry like with their recent purchase of Central. Also Swift undercuts and hauls freight cheaper than other companies which hurts the good trucking companies. If you are looking to get some freight hauled and just say for arguments sake, one company is gonna charge you $1000 to haul it and Swift is gonna charge you $700 to haul it who do you think the companies are going to choose?

I just hope places like Swift don't take over the whole trucking industry or force other companies to operate like them to compete.

Millis sounds really good for newbies but one thing I didn't like was I heard they have a camera on the driver, do you know if this is true.
Also a friend of mine said his son quit there because he wasn't getting enough miles like they promised and seems like I read the same on here before.
Other than that they seem like a good company. Keep us updated !

Training in Ohio. Loving my time here and the company. So long as I can do the job, I do not see myself leaving.
