I will be brief as possible. YOU ARE STUPID! The truck is not yours! It will never be yours. You will be sorry. Show the lease to any CPA or attorney and they will tell you to throw it in the trash. You have absolutely no idea the Sh** you just stepped in. I dont care what anyone tells you the fleece purchase programs benefit the companies and always have. If you dont believe me read some of the forums in here. If you have time to change your mind DO IT NOW!
See what you also fail to realize is you are not a true owner operator. You are in a diluted fantasy world. You cannot take that truck where you want! It is not yours! And the best part is this...you are legally obliged to the contract even if you leave the company and give them the truck back. You will be sued and then some.
Do what ever it takes and get out of that mess NOW!!!!
Picked out my truck!

That sounds decent ...
Now I see guys all the time pulling boxes and reefers. With flat top tractors. I would have to imagine that the fuel mileage is horrible ..
Right or wrong ? -

If you sign a contract, you are generally thought to be bound by it's terms. Since it's a straight lease, no, he "cannot take that truck where [he] wants." However, you are wrong about, "it will never be [his.]" The OP didn't want to disclose the terms of his contract, but he certainly could have paid a down, and be buying the truck. Each straight lease contract contains an amortization schedule listing the value of the truck by month and mileage... so he could certainly buy out the lease, and own the truck.
Why would that happen. He can turn the truck in on any given day, and the contract states how the assets involved will be dealt with. Repairs and unpaid claims such as tires are deducted from the escrow, and any remaining funds are paid to the operator.
Why? You don't even have the slightest idea of what the OP signed, and is responsible for. If he operates his business with any kind of good practices, he's liable to make quite a bit of money.
Sure, I told them to take a load and pound sand yesterday. Of course, it's a good idea to know what's around in freight before you start doing that.
That sounds like a pretty typical GVW for us on the reefer side.
What lighter loads? Pretty much 90% of what we get puts us in the neighborhood of 70 or 80,000 pounds most days. Yep, you make your money on a Prime lease by what you don't pay at the fuel island... but there are other ways of getting ahead of the fuel bill. Slow down, balance the load between the drives and tandems, learn how to drive the hills on the pedal, etc.n1xrf, Offender, FullMetalJacket and 3 others Thank this. -
IP is right! The troll that just went ape #### in here knows NOTHING about Prime Leasing program. Also, if you think the Qualcomm or the truck instant MPG is a good estimator on fuel Mileage, think again. Only way to see your true numbers is tracking via the mileage and fuel usage on your fuel receipts.
