How it will pan out is: can the farmers get enough pull to overrule the "greenies" and tell them to shove their little fishies where the sun don't shine.
It is truely amazing that so few can run tell so many what they can do with public water.

It will be a cold day in hell when that happens. When the "greenies" are starving to death, they won't have the foggiest idea of why they are starving, they will just be demanding that the government do something about it.:biggrin_25510:

The "greenies" are real close to turkeys , will drown in the rain . Look up to see where the falling water is coming from . Worked in recycling for 10 years, were hounding us about emissions and runoff. We are only kept a million lbs out of the landfill each week! Thought we were doing our part ? But never enough to make them happy ? But yes we had to burn fuel in doing it , so they attack their best friend !

All 11 or higher trucks will serve you well any 08 - 10 will run you ragged and no the drought is not affecting rates this season at all check out haulproduce.com for all updates nationwide and we are hitting record highs for strawberries because they prefer warm climates like a lot of berries. Vegetables such as lettuce which are mostly water will and that's what I thought until I found about the monsoon heading our way. I know Wednesday there will be a small front and a week from next Monday heard on the weather is when the alniño will arrive and the last time it came it flooded offices and streets. So yes we are excepting enough rainfall in April to get rid of the drought for good with two weeks of nonstop rain. It might damage a few crops and delay the season two weeks or so but Cali will go head strong again this year as well.

Why Californication when there are plenty of loads coming out of Mexico! I bet if you look for a produce broker that reps for Wally World, Target, Publix, etc., you will find loads originating out Mexico via of Zuma, Nogales and over in Brownsville and Laredo, Tx. Rates have been edging up so this might just be the right time to do it. I wouldn't worry about Cali!

Thanks for all the info and input. Yeah I'm kinda putting some feelers out and it will be nice to drive a paid for truck for a while! Looking like bout this time next year, I will be doing my deal so I will probably be asking even more questions at some point. Y'all have a good one and again, thanks!

I am just about 3 weeks away from my deal funding to begin as an independent owner operator running my own authority. I compared prices of trucks and reefers in the CalCompliant scenario as well as non compliant. I look at in/out freight rates and just can't justify running CA. Trucks aren't the issue; I'm going 2013 or newer, regardless of whether I run CA or not. Reefer trailer is to an extent. I can pick up a noncompliant 53' for about $20,000. Same trailer, but being carb compliant is around $34,000. Then add in the snails pace speed limits, hefty fines imposed by the state for ANY violation, and just my personal disgust with the state overall, and I've concluded that my truck will never see CA.

No specific lanes. Just where the money trail takes me out of where I end up.

Good luck with the adventure. There's a lot of competition on the reefer side, but I guess it all depends on how much you willing to make.
