$19,000 is the price of a new corolla , if you have a bank roll and the truck has paperwork documenting said work done to the truck and you have driven the truck and its fine I wouldn't hesitate to buy it. It being driven by Swift imbecil's is its only negative feature , but its a truck and can take some abuse to a certain degree. Just figure it this way , if she runs for 200 to 300 thousand miles your well ahead of the game. Just take into consideration she has some mileage and take due care with greasing and changing the oil , drive accordingly and she should be fine . Just chalk it up to this , when freight is slow it won't be eating 2,000 per month , it will only be tops 400 per month , thats doable . Think and rethink because anyone including me can give alot of advice . It is you and you only who will pay for that truck! With that being said , I wish you much luck with your purchase and plenty of work to make a profit. Just drive accordingly and she will give you a few years of luck before another rebuild is due . Peace out driver! :biggrin_25519:

I think less of road runner than swift... But I echo an earlier comment -- if you won't be CARB compliant anyway, why not just get a 2003?

Price seems fair -- good even considering the recent inframe. But I'd exclude it just based on the year...

I am gonna go out on a limb here and say that NOT ALL swift drivers are idiots. But on the same hand I have not met one that wasn't.Sometimes that greatest driver in a company truck would be the worst driver in his own truck. Not all so called owner operators are that great either.I have had trucks since 1978 and as I get older I can see myself loseing the edge I used to have.

What I forgot to say was if you want that tractor go ahead and get it.I have made the most profit with old tractors that nobody else would buy.The one I have now is a 1994 cabover which I have been running almost 14 years. When I bought it I was told it would not run a year without blowing up. I just had it overhauled 3weeks ago.Have never touched the clutch transmission and rears, and I have been everywhere but Alaska and quebec with it hauling mostly steel.

Oops! Home state is MO, not MI. I've been trying to follow everything in a 200 mile radius, easier to put hands on and check out. There's a few comparables to it, but several states away.

I like the specs but not so much that it's a Columbia instead of a Century. Look at this one:

My thoughts exactly. Only downside on this one is the EGR, but the recent overhaul makes me prefer it over others - $15-$18k trucks aplenty but add $8-$10k for an in frame and it cancels them out. Most have a million plus so its just a time game.

Still - with the EGR and a lifetime 6.25, I'm confident I can slow her down, right tires, air tabs, 12th gear at 1450 and squeeze 7.25mmpg out.

A bit scary - first truck, not sure - bought plenty of houses before and barely thought twice . . . might be over thinking it all.
