I was just talking to a young student driver who was having trouble with his trainer.. I told him to call his SDM and request another he said he would but.. His trainer is on a dedicated and home on weekends so he stays at a hotel while his trainer is on home time.. his trainer was cool and told him if he wanted to drink or go out to the bar while at the hotel it was okay with his trainer, just dont be drunk or too hung over when he picks him up...
Well, that is against werner policey.. student drivers are not allowed to drink alcohol at any time during their training, even when at a hotel during the trainers hometime... doesnt matter if you think it is a ridiculous policy.. it is the policy and a student will be terminated for alcohol consumption during their training period..
So, now he is with a bad trainer who has this over his head.. his trainer knows he has been drinking on the weekends... so he is worried that if he complains about his trainer or tells his SDM or Safety the things his trainer is doing... his trainer will tell them about his drinking and he will be fired..
My first trainer with werner tried to pull that trick on me.. told me I was an adult and if I wanted to drink on the weekends at the hotel she didnt have a problem with it... of course she didn't... it would give her something to hold over my head.. which is why I didnt and stayed with in werner policy on all things.. so my butt was covered...
Dont put yourself in a position where you cant talk to safety or your SDM about your trainer because you have been breaking policy and rules...
It doesn't matter if your trainer said it was okay... you were told the policies in orientation and signed that you understood them...
Bad trainers will let you if not encourage you to break policies and rules not because they are cool but so you can't or wont turn them in for their crap..
Bad trainers cheap trick, do not fall for it..

Who knows maybe yes maybe no. Don't drink and you won't have any problems. -
Take it back a step.
Bad trainer = Bad company.
Bad company = Bad choice.
Staying at a motel on your training time? Werner really couldn't care less - could they?hawkjr, Guitar Man, LGarrison and 3 others Thank this. -
I know even if you're in orientation and get caught at a bar with your personal vehicle,Werner will fire you.Student shouldn't have broke the policy then he wouldn't have had to worry about getting fired if requesting a new trainer.

Trainee made the mistake by opening his mouth. As long as he was sober and didn't reak of alcohol,he should have just kept quiet and don't brake the policy again.

Of course trainers should be weeded out but blame that part on Werner for keeping the bad trainers rather then demoting them.If Werner cared like their slogan says then they should get rid of the bad trainers rather then sticking another student with them only to have more bad reviews on that trainer.Good trainers in this industry are few and far between. Are you saying just because this trainer didn't give the student things to do in the motel he's bad?
