I appreciate any insight you can give. I have tried to search the forum for recent info, but it gets hard to look through it all.
Just wondering if anyone knows the answer to questions on how miles are computed and if they pay per diem. If so, is it forced? I pray not!
Does Schneider pay practical miles? Do they pay per diem?

I'll move your thread to the Schneider forum and they can give you a better answer. I wouldn't take per diem if you can help it. That's if one wants to really call it that. They don't give you anything but a tax break on your own money you already earned which boils down to about $7 a day. You can get that tax time and avoid the residual effects of having the appearance of a smaller income.

Miles are paid HHG, household movers guide, zip code to zip code. Per diem is forced the first 90 days, then you can elect to quit, which I highly recommend. When I went through 18 months ago 15 cents of your per mile pay were paid per diem and Schneider kept 2 cents of your per mile pay as a fee for doing so.TKR117, 48Packard, blairandgretchen and 1 other person Thank this.

First answer - typical for mega carriers.
Second answer - Why . . . those dirty rotten scoundrels. -
NOBODY pays anything other than HHG, nobody ever does, nor will
secondly why would you turn down per diem? -
Because you can clam per diem yourself when you do your taxes and you will not get charged 2 cents per mile for having them do it. Your overall gross income (and the money they need to pay into your Social Security) will be higher without them calming it for you.
Companies want to pay including per diem because it makes their pay look higher compared to a company that isnt doing it went it actually isnt and it reduces the amount that then need to pay into your Social Security due to them showing less gross pay for you.
Per diem is a tax befit given to you by the IRS and is meant for you to take advantage of. Companies really have no business getting involved with it and I am surprised that the IRS allows it at all.
You do not need the company declaring per diem for you just so they can fool you into thinking your pay is higher by giving you part of your own refund in advice and changing your doing so.bigdogpile, sadwar, 48Packard and 1 other person Thank this. -

In my research plenty of companies pay hub miles.....your choice. -
If your pay is 38 cpm.the only time per diem is acceptable is if it will equal 85% of 65.00 a day for everyday you are out & if it is added on TOP of your 38 cpm and is NOT taxed by payroll...
