That's something I never understood.
There are ways to start out working local without being a slave to some CDL mill somewhere. For me, it was driving for a construction company.

I was hired onto OD right out of school. I'm so grateful to be new to this industry and not have to go OTR.
ACH1130, Radman, road_runner and 1 other person Thank this. -
Graduated CDL school in November 2012. Was called for an interview for USF Corps in April. Did my hiring test in May. Fully hired in June (two days after I left the military). I am grateful that I never did a day OTR as well. You want local? Just apply. Do your TM a favour and ONLY apply if you have an idea of what you are doing. Keep the doors open for rookies that need a fair shot.

Meh. Got stuck with another blown tire. BOOM!! Holy crap was that loud. Sparks flying everywhere. It was nuts. Tenth tire in a 12 month period.

I usually dont hear them. Too busy jamming/singing along to Miley Cyrus. This one I heard well. Was pulling triples and getting ready to pass two RVs. Probably scared the hell out of them.
