Alright, I'm a new driver to Swift. Technically I joined up with Central Refrigerated, but looks like I'm under your guys' rules. As a company driver I'm forced to fuel up only where authorized by Dispatch. I noticed on this last load that those authorizations aren't for an amount of fuel, but rather a one time transaction. As since I forgot to put refer fuel in when I fueled up, so I tried to do another transaction to fill the refer, and I was declined. I'm sure I could've called Dispatch and got another transaction authorized for the refer, but I was in a rush to get to my home time so I just said f it. My question is this, when you fuel at loves, ta's, petros, etc... and you only make one transaction, no matter how many gallons you put in, you only get 1 shower point. So when the company is just authorizing me for one transaction and to fill up, I'm only getting 1 shower point. However, I will have multiple shifts on this full tank, which would include multiple showers, not just 1... So am I supposed to just pay for the others the whole time? Or should I just fill up 50 gallons, get a shower point, then call dispatch to re-authorize the location to fill another 50? That way I can actually have free showers out on the road, not just 50% free... What do you guys do? (Company Drivers)

your saying you dont fuel every day?
plenty of drivers have extra showers
just stand around the kiosk looking dirtypaul_4lp, GITRDUN45, papadonk and 1 other person Thank this. -
And they used to offer you one, in days gone by.paul_4lp Thanks this.

I could if I just filled 50 gallons at a time, and then maybe filled twice a day. But they send you a fuel list over saying where you have to fuel up and it usually just says fill up or top off. If I fill up you're looking at 1600 miles I can drive before having to fuel again. I can't drive all that in a day. Wish I could.

I'm just wondering how strict they are on the fuel situation? If I filled up just 50 gallons at a time to get my shower points and just had to keep getting locations authorized for fueling, would they start having a conniption?

Unless someone has a better suggestion, you're faced with paying $10-$13 for a shower. Save the receipts and claim at tax time as 'Unreimbursed Employee Expense'.
Companies never try to make it easier on the driver - they're after profit and ease of operation for themselves. -
seems i always have 3 or 4 shower credits
i must get bad fuel mileage and stay dirtyluvtotruck, papadonk, paul_4lp and 1 other person Thank this. -
I've paid for a few showers now and I always feel weird doing so. The attendant always looks at me funny like I'm an idiot paying for showers, then they usually run my rewards card anyways to check and confirm that yep, got no shower points. So I was thinking maybe there's something others are doing that I haven't caught on to yet.

This may sound crazy, but ask Swift what you should do for a shower. 1600 miles is about 3 days for a single driver, so I am sure Swift does not want dirty drivers showing up at their customers. Even though you are a new driver ask your company what the policy is on showers.

Just put enough to at least get a shower credit daily..
at the pump it will ask you about reffer and def.. its yes or no
