I have been driving for JB Hunt over three months now and loved everything about the company. They were a lot better than my last company. Today though I wish I just stayed in bed.

My truck broke down today in Oklahoma. The clutch pedal went limp and had to call roadservice. Ended up needing to have it towed to Oklahoma City to get repaired at the International Dealer. When I got here the Tow Truck driver told me the price and asked how I was going to pay.

I asked my dispatcher over the qualcom on what I should do, maybe get a comchecck authorized or something but was tol I did not need to do anything because the company has an account set up with them. I told the Tow Truck driver this and he insisted that was not the case. I even called the company and was told the only transactions they have ever done with JB Hunt were a couple years ago paid by check or credit card. They had no address or information of a payment account.

So I try calling roadservice again but was told the wait time was ten minutes and after the first couple minutes the line disconected. I did not want to keep the driver there any longer. He had a long ways back and had been waiting there already for a while now. So I pay him with my personal credit card. I was thinking that it would be no big deal, if there was in fact a payment account set up that was eventually found that the tow service would reverse the charge on my card. Or simply get reimbursement from JB Hunt.

There was already some confusion going on here but what happened next made things even worst. I called roadservice again to explain the situation. The man on the other end got alarmed when I told him I payed the driver and said he was going to look into all this. That I never should have done that because JB Hunt would never do business with a company that they did not have an account set up with. He told me that he would call me back as soon as he talked with Accounts Payable and that they were afraid of getting double charged for the tow.

Then shorlty after that I get a call from my dispatcher for a reminder telling me that I should never have to pay for anything road service provides.

After a few hours I called the tow service to ask about any progress going on with them about my credit card. They said they still have no account with JB Hunt to receive payment from. So I call JB Hunt again to ask about the progress with them but this time the call receiver was getting agitated. He told me that they absolutely do have an account and that the tow service was telling me lies. He suggested I call my credit card company to have the charges reversed and then hangs up the phone.

I just do not understand the reason JB Hunt was getting upset. Or why there is this misunderstanding about a payment account. Or what JB Hunt was telling me something about holding my truck at the repair shop until something else is done about the tow. Or even why this is causing such drama in the first place.

Tomorrow I am going to try and call Accounts Payable of JB Hunt and the tow service once more. I am scared to talk to road service again.

Tell jb hunt you are calling a cab, and follow through. It is not safe to sit on the edge of the road. I hope you have your triangles out. Don't spend any personal money to fix someone elses truck, especially a large carrier like jb.

I would've waited the ten minutes. The tow truck driver wants the money? He can wait for the money.

In this business, 10 minutes is a blink of an eye. The tow truck guy, who deals with trucking companies on a daily basis, should know and understand this. And you, as a company driver, should never ever ever pay for anything truck-related out of pocket. Sounds to me like the tow truck guy was trying to shake you down for some cash. Next time, tell him to take a hike and that you'll find some one else o tow your rig. Chalk it up as a lesson learned. As a matter of course, anyone who ask you personally to pay for anything, is trying to scam you.

Get the charges stopped/reversed ASAP from your credit card company. Let JB work it out. Your priority is to get those charges stopped on your card.

I understand why he paid - but yeah, reverse the charges. Tell CC company you did not authorize payment ( its a lie, but the wrecker will chase JB first).

And lesson learned, me no own truck, me no pay for Jack.

Jb hunt has a policy of 'authorizing' repairs done on a as needed basis.

Today I took a jb hunt daycab to get fixed at an international dealer and was swapping for another daycab but they didn't 'authorize' the work !

Never ever very use your cc bro....jb hunt is CHEAP, they are CHEAP WITH EVERYTHING and they don't care about drivers one ounce, only when you are threatening to leave the company then you're important

you got scammed big time. Everyone that I called out to provide a service for JB is setup on account... That company new you were new and they played you. It is not JriB's doing if you called road service its taken care of and you should NEVER pay out of your pocket for their expenses. They allow you to fix lights and so on and so on , People will tell you to blame JB but the bad choices were made by you the driver.... I am a fellow driver but would never use my own money as do many other drivers.

Take this as a lesson learned and fight it with your CC company...
