I used to have to go to the public library and do the Dewey decimal system thang.

 

I'd be curious to know how many on these forums (anywhere) today know what the Dewy Decimal system is or how to use the Card Index. LOL.

When I was in college our library had just gone computerized but you couldn't just go look something up. They wouldn't let you. You had to go the desk and get a card which would have a word on it. Then you had to go to the HUGE Oxford American English Dictionary on a pedestal and look it up and bring back the definition. Then they would give you a login, which was only good for that day. After you found what you wanted, if you wanted to check it out you had to bring the corresponding card from the card catalogue with it to the desk. They saw what was coming and the Librarians were doing what they could to try and keep up students conventional Library skills.

 

really slow trucks, expect you to stay out for weeks on end while making a fairly "low" wage in terms of trucking jobs.
