Schneider replaced my Holland fifth wheel with a Fontaine for free. At an OC.

Like I said, that was7.5 years ago. There were certain manufacturers that they wouldn't work on. At that time they would only replace the plate. They did give me a $500.00 dollar allowance to rebuild my plate as long as I stayed with them for at least 6 mos.

Delivered in SC, picked up in NC, made it to VA tonight should be in Carlisle tomorrow morning/early afternoon. Not sure if I'm stopping through or staying the night yet. Just gonna see how I feel and if I book any other loads after the delivery back in NC or not.

Still been running hard (well, hard for me), only 10 to 11 hour breaks, running my 11 and 14 down to under an hour, starting my day at around 3am... I don't like it!! But I keep booking pretty good loads so I guess I just need to man up and deal with it. But I sure miss my recap-rolling 8-9 hour days where I drive from dark to dark and never have to deal with traffic, lol.

Wow, great read. Have spent the last 2 weeks lurking and reading the IC choice threads by Sadwar, Chickenwing, DFO and probably a couple more here too I can't remember on this forum. Many thanks to all of you that contribute here. Good thing I'm back into retirement at the moment but that's about to come to an end... Again! LOL.

Boy have things changed since I first started driving OTR in 1987 in a 1979 IH Transtar II with a flying 290 Cummins and a 10 speed. 44k of swinging beef in the box, manual steering, 2 and 60 air conditioning, 4 spring Reyco suspension, no air ride on the cab, 2nd gear to climb Snoeshoe, had to duck driving across 80 in PA so your head didn't make the hole bigger in the fiberboard headliner and hit steel roof, you didn't dare step out in the Monfort lane without a triple digit truck during the Hunts Point 500 on Sunday night, running 2 logs that usually had only about 10 pages left in each from planting hundreds of logbook trees between Omaha and NYC out the vent window, 3 CDLs so the one from your home state was always clean, 78 cent per gallon fuel, diesel exhaust fluid was a funny joke to haze a rookie with, truckstops had bars and several had live bands, The Union 76 "Orange ball in the sky" was your friend when you needed a shower, $4.99 16 ounce sirloin dinner or 3 egg breakfast, a toothpick from a bull hauler could keep you awake for days, if you got something from a lot lizard or one of the pretty gals that hung around truckstop bars it could be cured with a penicillin shot, A high speed driving award in Montana that cost $35 because it was an "energy speed violation" (Translation... wasting fuel by driving too fast and didn't hurt that I was yes sir no sir and stopped and standing behind the trailer waiting for him with my Log book, bingo card, registration and everything else in my hands before he could catch up to me after I passed him and my bird dog jumped off the dash while running from Tacoma to Miles city MT in 10 hrs with last entry in Log being in Tacoma ... Whoops LOL), Nationwide double nickle speed limit, there were no "check engine" lights on trucks and the only thing electronic was a 23 channel CB radio, an AMFM radio and a 5" screen black and white TV with a set of rabbit ears that could get 4 channels that looked like Sasquatch in a blizzard on a good day... Those were some good days.

DEF, SCR, DPF, Electronic logs, 5th line on a logbook....... Yea, I got some catching up to do with this industry. '99 models are the newest trucks I've driven OTR. My last brand new truck was a 1999 Pete 379 That stickered at $106k and I paid $75k for and the last used truck I bought was a 1999 Century I paid $6500 for that lasted 2 years and 250k before she ate the cam and needed an inframe that would have cost more than I paid for it may she rust in peace.

I've done Reefer, Dry Van, Flat bed, Special Commodities, Driveaway/Towaway and Automobiles. Have 12 years and 1.5 million mile safe driving. Been a Company driver, have done lease purchase, contract driver and Owner Operator and have split up the last 30 years between the Navy Reserve, Navy Active, Trucking and Active Army and was medically retired from the Army 82nd Airborne Division in 2005.

Have been offered a position with choice so now just waiting to hear from finance. Leaning towards a new T680. Have an MHC Kenworth dealer a few miles from my house. I've worked load boards for a few years and really like running that way so this is the best fit for me.

Got a chance to meet 91883H8bhe38, no 98218hbv8, maybe 8198hb20, oh **** it ya'll know who I mean (oh look I scrolled up and found it in a thanked post and can copy and paste it LOL) 91B20H8 today at Carlisle after a year and a half of running by eachother at just the wrong times. Was really nice to finally meet you in person buddy!

I'll leave some time tomorrow, headed back to NC, then I'll probably go home for a restart. I have 20 hours left on my 70 at the moment, but not regaining any for 2 days, so if I run down and back up again then I'll be out of hours once I return back up to Carlisle and I'm just not a fan of away-from-home restarts.

Does anyone know the purchase price of the 2015 kenworth t680 with Schneider finance? We are doing a two year lease. Starting July 7th in Green Bay. Wondering if everyone pays the same price and if residuals are the same. Can you negotiate etc? Weekly payments @$1450 as a team.

    tynodine Thanks this.

I believe the purchase and residuals are the same for everyone who gets identical truck but there's no negotiating
