That seems like the best of both worlds. I actually didn't know OD had OTR, wonder if it's just teams? I'd love to be able to just land with a company and stick w/ the same company - don't want to job hop. But w/ OD, unless I'm mistaken, I do believe they have a no rehire policy. I'll need to verify that w/ the local line haul manager. If I can run OTR solo, that would be awesome w/ OD. Just so that I could have that experience. I'm just excited to drive, so even if I'm just going terminal to terminal w/ line haul, I think I'd still love that, I just don't want to miss out on the 'experience' of OTR. Then again, ultimately it comes down to working to live, not living to work. I have a family to support, don't want to miss out on my little girl growing up, and I'm fortunate enough to have found something I believe I'll enjoy while making a decent living.

Get on OD now! After a year, you will most likey want to go local. I've heard great things about OD. I called them after my 6 months, but they wanted a year.
You're lucky, take it. I believe I seen this terminal with a banner saying they were hiring.
Good luck!!! -
Indeed, that's the plan! They're definitely my first choice.blairandgretchen Thanks this.

HAR is a breakbulk, so they are predominantly a linehaul terminal.
I was hired on by OD right out of school. A GREAT place to work.blairandgretchen Thanks this. -
I've been following your other posts cellopudding, they've been very helpful! Seems like you're one of many, many drivers that are VERY happy w/ OD. Interesting to hear you were hired out of school as well. It's been my understanding - although perhaps a misunderstanding on my part - that each terminal operates a little differently in regard to hiring, i.e. some terminals might not hire students. Again, I might be mistaken and don't want to spread misinformation, maybe somebody can clear that up.
Regardless, every single driver I've talked to has said not to squander this opportunity. I've always wanted to end up with a line haul gig, from when I first started looking into trucking. I like the familiarity of going to the same place, knowing where I'm going, and not having to always wonder what the place is going to be like for me to park. I suppose the latter is part of the adventure that some OTR drivers look forward to. I personally like routine. I can adapt, I just prefer routine. Line haul will get me out and about, yet to familiar places, and instead of having to live out of truck stops and my truck, I can relax in a motel / hotel room. Sounds like a perfect middle ground between a local gig and OTR. And I'm by no means bashing local P&D work or OTR! To each their own.
blairandgretchen Thanks this.
