See DFO gets it. What can they do call SNI and say your driver is being too nice.

I have a different approach that often yields pretty good results.

If I go into a shipper or receiver and they are being an *** or just plain ignoring me or a group of drivers are standing there waiting for them to open their window while they read their newspaper I go back out to the truck and change clothes and grab a notebook and come back in wearing a nice button up shirt, a nice Italian sport coat, silk pocket square and my good boots or loafers.

Now that I'm looking like management I go back in and act like management, stand back a bit look around and start writing notes in my notebook while occasionally glancing at them and the ***holes get really nice really fast and for the ones that have everyone on ignore now give me their undivided attention and immediately open their window because they don't know what I am or what I'm doing. If they ask what I'm writing down I tell them I've received a lot of complaints from drivers and I am taking notes so I can discuss these issues with senior management....... and then hand them my BOL.

I don't raise my voice or stoop to their level. I don't kill them with kindness, I baffle them with B.S.

It doesn't work 100% of the time but when it plays out right it's a beautiful thing.

Neenah, WI, down the street from my earlier live load. 750ish miles to my delivery :D in TN. Had a nice nap earluer, and am going back to sleep shortly.

The advantage of staying in customer lots is the lack of external distractions...

True, but they do interfere with sleep...

Maybe tomorrow night I will be somewhere near civilization, and can sleep surrrounded by trucks :) And yes, I am taking time out of my day to shower...the lack of facilities is the major drawback to customer lots!!

Drifter42, w.h.o and dtcscout Thank this.

If the customer don't have at least a washroom I don't stay overnight.

Sometimes it's the distractions that wear you out so you can sleep better.
