On behalf of The Truckers' Report, I offer our condolences, sir. Sorry to hear that.Shaggy and road_runner Thank this.

Yeah, kinda hard to complain or rant about work when we lose one of our own. Doesn't matter how bad our day/night was... there is a family waking up each day without one of their members... and in Shaggy's case, a good friend and coworker.Shaggy Thanks this.

This past week sucked. Another fella and I picked up all of his runs. Sure both of us been to these locations before, But this was his route. He made his own. All the vendors asked where he was and it was tough explaining. A true gentleman to the industry, He will be missed. One of the warehouse workers was at the funeral, Brother will be missed.
On the up side, He doesn't have to drive where he went.
ETA: He had 38 years trucking. 2 years LTL.Last edited: Jun 14, 2014

Not ranting that I NOW know about the "16 hour rule exception"......just ranting that I wish I knew about it before lol (delivering to Home Depots at night are a crap shoot sometimes)

Sorry for your loss shaggy, now it's making me scared to ride my motorcycle and sell it.
well first week at new job and I have a feeling I hit the home run of LTL companies. Everything I've heard about the place is true, and all the drivers I spoke to (senoir and new) all say the same things. Heck I got friends asking if we are hiring. Yea sure the equipment is old and beat up but the old international I had yesterday mechanically ran great with no issues so I guess that's a plus. For local p/d I don't need a brand new truck, Linehaul was different.
I got about 52 hours in and about 20 hours overtime(after 8 and 40), go in at 930 and done around 8-830. Wish I started at 8 but I gotta start somewhere. Guessing a few years as a lot of senoir guys are ready to retire.Shaggy Thanks this. -
I kinda feel the same way about my place....think my first check was 80 reg/39.50 OT
